10.-14.10.16: Media trip "Human trafficking – and Switzerland’s efforts to combat it / Media trip from destination country Switzerland to country of origin Bulgaria, via Vienna (OSCE)"
Ahead of the European Day against Human Trafficking on 18 October, the FDFA is organising a media trip from destination country Switzerland, via the OSCE in Vienna, to Bulgaria – the country of origin of many victims of human trafficking. Participants will first attend an information seminar in Zurich or Geneva, depending on preference. Experts specialising in justice, the police, and victim protection will talk about the situation in Switzerland and their respective work in Switzerland’s two biggest cities. The actual trip will begin on 11 October with a flight to Vienna, where the Swiss OSCE ambassador will talk about the nature of Switzerland’s work, and where participants will meet a Swiss who is experienced in combating human trafficking and trains OSCE experts in preparation for their deployment in the field. The next stop will be Bulgaria from 12 to 14 October, where participants will learn at first-hand about prevention and the identification, protection, repatriation and reintegration of victims. During their time in Bulgaria, participants will visit projects in Sofia and Burgas that reflect Switzerland’s work in combating human trafficking as part of its contribution to EU enlargement.
Please see the provisional itinerary below (which is subject to change), including rough details of expected costs (flights, accommodation, meals) which participants must cover themselves. Please note that a good command of English is a requirement on this trip. Participants will also need a valid passport or identity card to enter Bulgaria.
