Bilateral relations Switzerland–Dominica
Diplomatic and economic relations between Switzerland and Dominica are good but limited in scope. The Swiss embassy in the Dominican Republic represents Swiss interests in Dominica.
Key aspects of diplomatic relations
The Swiss embassy in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) represents Swiss interests in Dominica. Since May 2011, the regional consular centre in Santo Domingo has been responsible for consular matters.
In line with the Paris Agreement on climate change, Switzerland and Dominica entered into a bilateral agreement on 11 November 2021 concerning the international compensation of CO2 emissions. This agreement establishes the necessary framework for Switzerland to support global emission reduction efforts by participating in climate protection projects in Dominica. By engaging in such projects, Switzerland can make a more significant contribution to combating climate change than it would be able to achieve solely through domestic measures.
Economic cooperation
Dominica's economy is primarily based on tourism. Trade with Switzerland is limited in scope. In 2023, Switzerland's exports to Dominica were very limited, amounting to just CHF 68,800 and consisting mainly of machinery and electronic devices. Imports amounted to CHF 150,000.
