Key aspects of diplomatic relations
Switzerland and Jamaica have concluded agreements in several areas, including investment promotion and protection, double taxation, air traffic, and the recognition and protection of geographical indications.
From 2008 to 2011, Switzerland supported Jamaica in a project to create an operational and effective system for protecting geographical indications.
Diplomatic relations are managed by the Swiss embassy in Havana (Cuba).
Economic cooperation
Trade between Switzerland and Jamaica is limited in scope. In 2023 Switzerland imported goods worth CHF 1.9 million, mainly agricultural and textile products. Swiss exports to Jamaica – primarily watches, machinery and pharmaceutical products – amounted to CHF 12 million.

Researchers and artists who are citizens of Jamaica can apply to the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships.

History of bilateral relations
Switzerland was quick to recognise Jamaica's independence in 1962 and has maintained diplomatic relations with the country since then. Between 1963 and 2004, Switzerland maintained a consulate general in the capital, Kingston. Since 2004, it has been represented by an honorary consul.
