The 1999 Agreement between Switzerland and the European Union (EU) on public procurement expands the area of application of the WTO Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA).

With the new Agreement, companies from both contracting parties gain access to new procurement markets. In light of the high level of public expenditure in the EU and in Switzerland, the additional liberalisation creates opportunities for the export industry and for the service sector.
