The United Nations mission in Côte d'Ivoire (ONUCI) has been entrusted with the mandate to restructure the local police force and ensure its basic as well as its specialized training. International police forces have their headquarters in Abidjan and conduct interventions in the various regions of the country. First and foremost, the UN mission seeks out French-speaking instructors tasked with planning the training of police. Switzerland also supports the civilian element of the ONUCI that is charged with advising Ivorian customs, in particular in Bouaké.
