Important news - Airport reopens on 01.06.2021

The Government of Sri Lanka announced on 31.05.2021 that inbound travel will be allowed again for all arrivals (Sri Lankan citizens and foreigners) from 01.06.2021, after it had been suspended for 10 days in order to control the spread of the Corona virus. The imposed countrywide travel restrictions will remain in force until 4.00 a.m. on June 21, 2021.

Swiss Travelers in Sri Lanka and the Maldives should register on TravelAdmin. The data collected will facilitate the evaluation of the presence of Swiss citizens in the respective countries.

Please regularly consult the travel advice of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA.

All Swiss citizens in Sri Lanka and the Maldives are advised to follow the instructions and recommendations of the respective local authorities.

Sri Lanka

The international airports in the country (Colombo BIA and Mattala HRI) were reopened for inbound flights on 21.01.2021.

The airport in the Maldives was reopened on 15.07.2020 for tourists' arrivals. Please note that a negative PCR-test is mandatory: the sample for the PCR test must be taken not more than 96 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure from the first port of embarkation en-route to Maldives.

Covid-19 vaccination for Swiss citizens living abroad

For the Swiss citizens abroad, the vaccination strategy of their country of residence applies, i.e. any vaccinations are carried out at their place of residence abroad in accordance with the regulations of their country of residence.
