Notarization and Authentication

As of October 15, 2025, consular services available for U.S. citizens in Iran are adjusted.   Routine consular services, including fee-based notarizations and authentications, are no longer available. This change reinforces the travel advice to U.S. citizens:  Do Not Travel to Iran.

Only no fee notarial services, such as that for a DS-3053 – Statement of Consent for Issuing a U.S. Passport to a Child, remain available.

For routine consular services, U.S. citizens should visit the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate or return to the United States.
