As of October 15, 2025, consular services available for U.S. citizens in Iran are adjusted. Routine consular services, including acceptance of applications for full-validity passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA) applications, and fee-based notarial services, are no longer available. This change reinforces the travel advice to U.S. citizens: Do Not Travel to Iran.
For routine consular services, U.S. citizens should visit the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate or return to the United States.
The Foreign Interests Section will continue to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens, including acceptance of emergency passport applications.
