As the official representation of Switzerland, the Embassy covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. It represents Switzerland’s interests in the areas of political, economic and financial affairs, legal arrangements, environment, science and culture, and supports cooperation in these areas.
The tasks of the embassy
The Embassy monitors the political situation in Poland, communicates developments that are of interest to Switzerland, and organizes bilateral meetings to strengthen relations. It monitors and reports on developments in Polish economic, financial and environmental/climate policy and fosters collaboration in science, technology and education in order to strengthen cooperation in research and innovation. It promotes Swiss arts and culture in Poland and strengthens contacts between cultural institutions and artists from both countries. The Embassy also maintains contacts with national and international media, and supports the work of journalists working for Swiss media
Furthermore, the Embassy promotes Swiss business in Poland. Through its Swiss Business Hub Central Europe (which represents Switzerland’s international trade and investment promotion agency “Switzerland Global Enterprise” S-GE), it implements Swiss export strategies in Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, and provides information and tailor-made services to SMEs from Switzerland and Liechtenstein. It also promotes Switzerland as a business and investment location.
Last but not least, the Embassy’s Chancellery provides consular services to Swiss and Liechtenstein citizens living in Poland. It also provides information to non-Swiss who live or stay in Poland on requirements to enter Switzerland and to take residence, and processes visa applications. It responds to questions pertaining to travel restrictions in Switzerland.
Co-located with the Embassy, the Switzerland Tourism Office in Warsaw promotes Switzerland as a destination for holidays, travel and business conferences.
