All eight projects were successfully completed by the end of 2016. The initial objectives have been achieved and in some projects even surpassed.
Results in Slovenia
An overview of the results:
Transparent financial reporting
232 public administration and private sector employees are well versed in financial reporting and auditing standards thanks to their participation in 20 seminars and study trips. The translation of international standards into Slovenian has facilitated their application. The exchange of experience in the area of financial reporting helps improve the investment climate and prevent financial crime.

Research
Twelve Slovenian doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers completed a fixed-term research stay at a Swiss university thanks to a SCIEX (Scientific Exchange Programme between the New Member States and Switzerland) fellowship. It was an opportunity for them to acquire more expertise in their chosen field and to take advantage of international academic exchanges to develop new research approaches.

Health
Switzerland supported a project to build a new radiotherapy centre at the University Medical Centre Maribor and helped purchase, install and put into operation two linear accelerators. As a result, cancer patients from north-eastern Slovenia can obtain faster and easier access to radiotherapy. The exchange of knowledge and experience with the
Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland (IOSI) at the regional hospital of Bellinzona has enabled Slovenian nursing staff to enhance their knowledge.
Renewable energy and greater efficiency
The motorway is flanked by a 648-metre-long noise barrier fitted with solar panels. An information panel continuously displays the solar energy generated and CO2 savings. Forty-one public buildings, mainly schools and pre-schools, are heated with renewable energy. An information campaign has raised 20,000 teachers' and pupils' awareness of renewable energy and energy efficiency. In order to establish Swiss-Slovenian partnerships and disseminate knowledge about renewables and energy efficiency, Slovenian companies and institutions undertook two study trips to Switzerland and Swiss representatives attended a conference in Slovenia.

Support funding for NGOs
Non-governmental organisations obtained funds from a support fund to promote and strengthen civil society's participation in the economic and social development of the country. A total of 23 projects have been implemented: 12 in the environmental sector and 11 in the social sector.

Partnership fund
In Slovenia, 19 partnership projects have promoted the exchange of knowledge and expertise between Swiss and Slovenian municipalities and institutions. For example, Slovenian pupils learned about the sustainable cultivation of organic vegetables in their school gardens. This partnership project was jointly implemented by the Slovenian Institute for Sustainable Development and the Swiss Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL).
