Tajikistan UNDRR - Strengthening Resilience to Disasters and Climate Change in Tajikistan (SRDCT)

Tajikistan is highly vulnerable to natural hazards and climate impacts, thus strengthening resilience needed as fundament for sustainable development. The intervention will contribute to (i) sustainable and effective mechanisms and instruments to improve risk governance through the national DRR platform,  (ii) improved risk knowledge through robust loss data collection and recording, and (iii) preparedness measures through support to multi-hazard Early Warning Systems and risk information.   


Climate Resilience Develoipment in Tajikistan

The  contribution  to  the HELVETAS project  aims  at building  resilience  of  livelihoods  of  the  rural communities  of  Khatlon  region,  vulnerable  to  climate  change.  The  population  and  particularly women  and  youth  will  engage  in  management,  regeneration  and  protection  of  their  natural resources and biodiversity while implementing disaster risk reduction measures. 


Human Rights Grants (HRG) program in Tajikistan

The Human Rights grants program will support local and international organizations working in Tajikistan on acute Human Rights issues. The program will provide cofunding opportunities to selected projects related to child rights, freedom of press, human rights in custody, prevention of gender-based violence and the rights of migrants/refugees.


Groundwater Management in the Sughd Region, Tajikistan (GWMP)

The project aims to enhance livelihoods and social cohesion in Sughd region by promoting sustain-able groundwater management. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 6, it will improve poli-cies, institutional capacity, and water usage practices for long-term sustainability in Tajikistan. This unique Swiss initiative will leverage the region's untapped and scientifically unexplored potential to optimize groundwater resources, paving the way for sustainable development.


Central Asia Arts and Culture Programme 2.0. (CAACP 2.0.)

The objective of the Central Asia Arts and Culture Programme (CAACP) is to foster the further development of a vibrant and open art and culture scene that contributes to preserving freedom of expression and enhancing social cohesion in the region. The CAACP offers cultural institutions and artists opportunities to create a platform that enables people, including left-behind groups, to address issues affecting their lives and contribute to positive social change.


Climate-sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia

The Climate Sensitive Water Resources Management in Central Asia project strengthens national and regional organisations responsible for water resource management in Central Asia to implement climate-sensitive integrated water resources management in a regionally coordinated manner. Switzerland will contribute to this initiative which is designed in the frame of the German led, GIZ implemented Green Central Asia High-Level Platform. 


Improving Community Resilience through Sustainable Livelihoods in the Rasht Valley, Tajikistan

The contribution to the Aga Khan Foundation project aims at improving the resilience of livelihoods of the remote rural communities of Rasht valley, vulnerable to climate change. The local population will get equitable access to water and sanitation and childcare services. The population and particularly women will get income generation opportunities and engage in management, regeneration and protection of their natural resources while adopting disaster risk reduction measures and practices.


Advancing climate-smart conservation agriculture across Southern Tajikistan (ACCA)

01.12.2022 - 31.05.2025

The project introduces climate smart irrigation as well as pomi- and horticulture techniques in vulnerable areas of the Southern part of the country. It will provide access to know-how and technologies to increase land productivity through adapted, climate smart vegetable cultivation, integrated pest management and efficient water management. Thus, the project contributes to improve food security and income opportunities for local agricultural smallholders.


National Water Resources Management Tajikistan (NWRM)

01.12.2022 - 30.11.2026

The last phase of the mandated Tajik National Water Resources Management Project-III of Syr Darya river basin will focus on sustainability and aims at improving rural livelihoods through an efficient and integrated management of water resources. The project will lead to climate resilient use, protection and development of basin water resources, improved irrigation efficiency, decreased risks of water-related disasters and allows smallholder farmers to increase incomes from agricultural production. 


Smart & Precise Prognostic Hydrology for Innovative Risk Management and Resource Use Efficiency in Central Asia (SAPPHIRE Central Asia)

01.12.2022 - 30.11.2026

The main goal of the project is to improve hydro-meteorological services provision to key stakeholders in Central Asia. This will be achieved through targeted capacity building of National Hydro-Meteorological Services agencies to valorize gauging station data by integrating a digital assistant solution to improve forecast accuracy. This is instrumental for disaster warning and decision-making across water-dependent sectors of the Central Asian economies.


Building Knowledge and Awareness on sustainable Sanitation Solutions

01.12.2022 - 30.11.2024

The project aims to improve public health by enhancing population’s access to safe sanitation services. The project will document and disseminate knowledge on innovative decentralized sanitation systems among concerned stakeholders for adequate integration of alternative sanitation models in state strategies, programmes and plans. The intervention will support Tajikistan in the implementation of the Water Sector Reform.


Tajikistan Digital Foundations Project

01.09.2022 - 31.08.2028

In Tajikistan, public service delivery remains mostly complex and inefficient. Based on its experience in public sector reforms, Switzerland, in close cooperation with the World Bank, will support the digitalisation of public service delivery in order to improve access to and efficiency of public services. People's awareness of their rights to public services and their financial and digital literacy will be strengthened to hold the state accountable for the quality of public services.
