On March 21, 2020, UNDP has initiated the first online club meeting of the “I AM the Community” Youth Leadership Club members in the frames of its “Women and Youth for Innovative Local Development” Swiss-funded project, in synergy with the “Women in Politics” UK GGF-funded project. The club unites about 140 graduates of the “I AM the Community” Youth Leadership Model graduates with the purpose of engaging the young women and men members from the regions of Armenia in policy-making processes and making their voice heard at the national level.

During the meeting, 23 club members discussed and developed 33 recommendations for the improvement of two RA Government employment-related programs for young mothers and professionals, as well as for the Draft Law on “Protection of Rights of Persons with Disabilities”. The recommendations will be shared with the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and with the Vice President of Parliament by April 15. In 2019, the Youth Club submitted 18 recommendations for amendment of the Law on Local Self Government out of which two were included in the Law.

The project “Women and Youth for Innovative Local Development” is a part of the “Improvement of the Local Self-Governance in Armenia” program funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC.
