Ambassador Paul Garnier
On behalf of the entire team, I warmly welcome you to the website of the Swiss Embassy in Egypt.
Switzerland enjoys long-standing and multifaceted bilateral relations with Egypt. Swiss travelers, explorers, businessmen, hoteliers, artists, architects and many others have left their mark and legacies across Egypt throughout the centuries. As an example, some two hundred years ago the Swiss traveler Johann Ludwig Burckhardt, later called Sheikh Ibrahim, rediscovered one of the most iconic ancient Egyptian landmarks, the Abu Simbel temples. There are currently some 1740 Swiss citizens living in Egypt.
Switzerland and Egypt enjoy partnerships in the fields of politics, economics, economic and development cooperation, culture, media, education and even sports. The Swiss Embassy in Egypt recently integrated all the different federal actors of the Swiss government under its umbrella, further facilitating this partnership. These are the Embassy’s Diplomatic and Consular Divisions, the Embassy’s International Cooperation Office (OIC), and Pro Helvetia, Swiss Arts Council, Cairo Office. The Swiss Embassy also works closely with other Swiss entities in Egypt including the Swiss-Egyptian Business Association, the Swiss Archaeological Institute, the Swiss Club in Cairo, and the Swiss club in Alexandria.
The Embassy’s website, as well as its social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter @CH_Cairo), provide useful and interesting information on the Swiss Embassy’s activities across Egypt. They also strive to foster a better and richer understanding among Egyptians of Switzerland and Swiss culture. The website provides quick and informative answers to questions about how to travel to Switzerland or work and live there as well as interesting insights about Switzerland.
An important aim of the website is to inform, advise and support Swiss citizens living in Egypt and Swiss travelers coming to Egypt. It also provides efficient tools to access Embassy services, such as downloadable documents and forms, in order to facilitate administrative proceedings.
The Embassy is a service center for a wide range of Swiss related issues and queries. Please do not hesitate to contact the Embassy and to send us your questions, comments or suggestions.
Many thanks for your interest and for visiting our website.
