ZATOKREV was founded in April 2003 in Basel Switzerland. Although the first album (tracked in their own rehearsal room) was only intended for demopurposes, the band immediately got offered various deals, and finally released the record in 2004/2005 on Codebreaker, Earache and Division Records to overwhelming media all over Europe and the States.
The following Bury The Ashes got released through Firebox Records/Finland in 2007 before Zatokrev signed a contract in 2011 with the UK cult-label Candlelight Records, who released their next two albums „The Bat, The Wheel And A Long Road To Nowhere“ (2012) and „Silk Spiders Underwater…“ (2015).
Zatokrev have claimed stages on countless tours and festivals all over Europe, while gaining the status of an intense live act. The numerous line-up changes throughout these years did not harm the creative output of the band: Drawing from their Sludge/Heavy-Background, the band is now a lot more open to experimentation, and does not hesitate to expand towards Doom, Death- and Black-Metal, Industrial as well as even Psychedelic Rock - So it’s no coincidence that also the lyrics and the artwork both bend towards to be very metaphoric. Already back in 2004 Zatokrev were mentioned as an Avantgarde by the wellknown UK Magazine Terrorizer. More topical than ever before, Zatokrev define themselves through their own form of heavy music nowadays.
Due to unexpected health issues the band stopped touring for a while, but Zatokrev is now back to hit the road again, before they finish the songwriting process for the follower album of “Silk Spiders Underwater...” in 2018.
The band will play on the Desszert feszt on 28 October in Dürer Kert.
