Currently, Russia's economy struggles with several difficulties because of low commodity prices, the international sanctions and the weak ruble. But according to experts the economy should recover for 2017. The Russian market offers many opportunities with 150 million consumers for Swiss export companies; for example for suppliers for the food processing, railway, IT, pharmaceutical and MedTech industries. It is also interesting, because a simplified access to other markets is ensured through the Eurasian Economic Union with Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. But a market entry or expansion of existing business in Russia must be well prepared because of several market entry barriers (e.g. Russia-specific certifications).
