Swiss Cooperation in Tanzania
Tanzania is a priority country for Swiss development cooperation. Despite economic growth of around 7% in recent years, one third of Tanzanians live below the national and well below the international poverty line.
Switzerland has been supporting development projects in Tanzania since the early 1960s. Over the next few years, Switzerland will continue to work with local and Swiss partners to foster an equal society, support economic growth that is inclusive of all citizens, and reduce poverty in poor regions of Tanzania through three major thematic areas (domains) – health, employment and income, and governance.
The Swiss Cooperation Strategy for Tanzania 2015–2018 has been built on experience, lessons, and partnerships to innovate and deliver results for the poorest Tanzanians.
