SDC contribution to international emergency aid projects of the Swiss Red Cross (SRC)
Political fragility and climate change are leading to an increasingly urgent and frequent need for humanitarian emergency aid worldwide. The SDC's annual contribution to the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) enables it to respond quickly with humanitarian emergency aid in cases of emergency and disaster worldwide, without having to wait for donations to come in.

| Contexte | According to OCHA, around 300 million people were dependent on humanitarian aid in 2024; the triggers for this were diverse, with the number of people in need rising steadily, while the funds needed to meet their needs are becoming increasingly scarce. |
| Objectifs | Rapid liquidity for the SRC to enable it to implement emergency aid operations tailored to the needs of those affected in foreign countries in the event of emergencies. |
| Groupes cibles | Individuals and population groups who are in urgent need of humanitarian aid due to natural disasters or man-made crises. |
| Effets à moyen terme | People affected by crises around the world receive rapid, professional and unbureaucratic assistance, either through contributions to IFRC appeals or through the SRC's own efforts (e.g. personnel and relief supplies). |
| Résultats |
Principaux résultats attendus: The basic needs of people affected by crises are met in accordance with humanitarian principles, without delay and in consultation with the SDC. Principaux résultats antérieurs: In 2024, thanks to the aforementioned contribution (amounting to CHF 2’500’000 for that year), 40 humanitarian projects were carried out in contexts such as: Lebanon, Sudan, Malawi, Bangladesh and other countries.
