The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) is a multilateral initiative launched by a group of African governments in late November 2009. ATAF offers a platform for tax administrators to articulate African tax priorities, develop and share best practices in the region, and build capacity in African tax policy and administration through peer exchange and knowledge development.


Roundtable for Sustainable Biomass

The resulting standard and certification system is globally recognized as the most credible reference for sustainable biofuel and bioenergy production.


Azerbaijan and Central Asia Micro- and Responsible Finance Project

The project aims to further the development of the microfinance sector in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, but also in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. More responsible lending and borrowing practices are supported, which will contribute to reduce the problem of over-indebtness and at the same time make financing more accessbile for the undserved population. The project is implemented by the International Finance Corporation.


Improved Water and Wastewater Services Program - Phase II

The Improved Water and Wastewater Services Program - Phase II (IWSP II) plans to increase the coverage of water supply systems and wastewater treatment infrastructure in four Governorates of Upper Egypt (Qena, Assiout, Minya, Sohag).


Financial Sector Development, National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, Phase I

SECO contributes to the stability of the financial sector of the Kyrgyz Republic by supporting the development of a sound legal and regulatory framework, the improvement of the supervisory capacity of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the establishment of clear liquidation procedures for failed banks.

Kant Water Supply Project

SECO has a longstanding partnership with the Kyrgyz Government aiming to develop and strengthen the urban water and sewerage sector of the country. Responding to the significant institutional and infrastructural needs, SECO engaged in 2013 in the Kant Water Supply Project (Phase I) on co-financing basis with EBRD. The municipality and water company have engaged in a public private partnership scheme. The project will rehabilitate the water and partly the waste water infrastructure of Kant and improve the management of the water company. The project with an overall budget of EUR 7,65 million, will be financed by an EBRD loan of EUR 1,5 mio., a grant by EBRD of EUR 0,45 mio. and a grant by SECO of EUR 5,7 mio.


Sustainable trade capacities for fisheries value-chains

Indonesia is one of the world’s largest exporters of tuna, seaweed, and shrimp but its seafood industry is characterized by high-volume-low-value commodity production, mostly exported in bulk as raw products. The aim of the project is to support strengthening the trade capacity of the Indonesian fisheries sector.


Child Protection in Tourism, Phase III

This project will contribute to improving quality and competitiveness in travel and tourism, an economic sector providing significant economic and employment benefits in developing countries. By strengthening a voluntary sustainability standard, the proposed project will support institutional expansion and infrastructure development for TheCode.org, in order to prevent and combat sexual exploitation of children in tourism and to improve the tourism sector's sustainability and competitiveness.
