"Public health indicators provide us with targets to be achieved, and with standards to be upheld", said Swiss Ambassador Christoph Graf at the conference. "Good health care policies rely on health indicators and information. This in turn requires that each country commits resources to data collection and analysis", added Ambassador Graf.

Conference guests focused on the issue of collecting timely health data, and how to use indicators to support smart decisions in the health sector.

Swiss expertise was present at the conference through the Director and experts from the Swiss Tropical and Health Institute. Professor Jürg Utzinger, Director of the Swiss TPH presented on the topic of vital registration and health information.

Albania's Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj said that information is one of the five pillars of the government's programme on universal coverage.
