With their unique instrumental lineup and timbre, which often feature a percussive piano against a melodic percussion, the Makrokosmos quartet has collaborated with contemporary composers such as Heinz Holliger, Brian Ferneyhough, and Stefano Gervasoni, whilst inspiring more new commissions for the setting. Under Hathut Records, the quartet has also produced some phenomenal interpretations of works by Nik Bärtsch, Ivan Fedele, Guillermo Gregorio and Stefan Wirth.
In their first concert in Hong Kong, the Makrokosmos Quartet will revisit some of their career-defining repertoires, including Bela Bartok’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion, together with Swiss composer Xavier Dayer’s score for Carlo Ippolito’s 2010 short film.
