Where to apply for a Schengen visa?

Notice to Visa applicants who want to submit their visa application

The Embassy is receiving visa applications from Monday to Friday on an appointment basis only.

Appointment requests through email are no more accepted.

For Schengen - C - visa applications, applicants will have to book their appointment and fill in an online visa application form through www.swiss-visa.ch.

Be aware that, due to increasing number of visa applications, the waiting time to get an appointment may be up to 6 weeks, especially during visa high season (May to October).

We therefore request all applicants to anticipate and organise their travel plan and visa application accordingly.

Bear in mind that the Schengen visa application processing takes up to 14 days from your application date.

However, for long stay - D - visa applications, appointment through email will remain possible at kathmandu.consular@eda.admin.ch.

Representation agreement

If a State does not have its proper visa section in a country or region, the delivery of a Schengen visa can be delegated to another Schengen State member with an agreement between both countries concerned.

The agreement allows the appointed representation to represent and handle Schengen visa applications within its own competence without consulting the other represented State.
