Working lunch with the national media

H.E. Philippe Guex, Ambassador of Switzerland to Serbia, and Ursula Läubli, Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office hosted today a working lunch with the editors of the Serbian national media. The aim of the event was to present the Swiss-Serbian bilateral cooperation, activities within the Swiss Cooperation Strategy Serbia for the period 2018-2021 and the “Swiss way” of doing things.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Guex emphasized Switzerland's commitment to global peace, sustainable development and a world without poverty: “In order to contribute to the global peace, our country is committed to supporting others in their development. Therefore, the Swiss bilateral cooperation is defined in the Swiss Constitution and is a part of the Swiss foreign policy agenda. We strongly believe that our peace, economic and social stability heavily depends of the situation in all parts of the world, our neighboring countries in particular. We consider Serbia as a close neighbor, although we do not share borders.” 

The Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office spoke about the “Swiss way” of the development cooperation, the Cooperation Strategy 2018-2021 and activities planned for 2019. She presented how Switzerland adds its flavor to the bilateral cooperation in Serbia, emphasizing the following: transfer of knowledge in the areas that Switzerland is known for, introduction of new and innovative approaches, support that fully correspond to local needs and focus on concrete and long-term results that bring benefits to Serbian men and women. 

"We want to provide support where is needed, which is why the Swiss Cooperation Strategy follows the priorities of the Serbian Government, from public administration reform and digitalization to dual education. By 2021, our target is to reach additional 4’000 employed women and man, 10 million euros of income created, 7 million euros of IT exports, 10’000 citizens who have improved living conditions thanks to energy efficiency measures” stated Mrs. Läubli. 

The working lunch was attended by representatives of Radio Television Vojvodine, TV Prve, Nedeljnik, Novi Magazin, Novosti, Blic, Danas, Politika, Ekonometar, Nova ekonomija, etc. In the informal atmosphere, the discussion took place and the guests had the opportunity to enjoy Swiss specialties, including fondu, röschti and Züri gschnetzeltes.
