A new round of political consultations between Switzerland and Montenegro

On June 18, Switzerland and Montenegro held their third round of political consultations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Podgorica. The Swiss delegation was led by Ambassador Anna Ifkovits Horner, Assistant State Secretary and Head of the Eurasia Division at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), whereas the Montenegrin delegation was headed by Ambassador Ljubomir Mišurović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 17 June 2021, Switzerland and Serbia met for political consultations in Belgrade.

Ambassador Anna Ifkovits Horner, Assistant State Secretary and Head of the Eurasia Division at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), led the Swiss delegation, while Ambassador Vladimir Maric, Acting Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation led the Serbian delegation.


More than 2,800 people from vulnerable groups benefit from Swiss support

Conference “Digitalising Oversight of Public Enterprises”

The project Local Government Finance Reforms II in Serbia (RELOF2), supported by the Swiss Government and Ministry of Economy, has designed an information system that will help digitalise oversight of Serbian public enterprises. Starting next year, all public companies in the country will use the software to report their performance to their owners, it was announced today at the Digitalising Oversight of Public Enterprises conference.


Local grants launched by the global project – Making Migration Work for Sustainable Development

Within the global project Making Migration Work for Sustainable Development, implemented by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Serbia, supported by the Swiss Government, agreements have been signed with three local governments, whose projects were selected after the Public Call for Grants. These include the municipalities of Ivanjica, Knjaževac and Prokuplje. The Swiss Government has set aside roughly 230,000 EUR in total for the implementation of these three projects, all of which aim to mitigate the negative effects of internal migration.


Serbia 2030 – First Thematic Dialogue on the 2030 Agenda

The Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue of the Republic of Serbia invited a wide range of state and non-state stakeholders to participate in the first thematic dialogue on the 2030 Agenda entitled “Sustainable Development Goals - Serbia 2030”. The hybrid event, which combined online and in-person attendance, was held on 10th May 2021 with the support of the German and Swiss Development Cooperation, implemented by GIZ within the “Public Finance Reform – 2030 Agenda” project. 


Swiss Ambassador meets Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy

On 10th May, 2021, the Ambassador of Switzerland, Mr. Urs Schmid paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia, Her Excellency Mrs. Zorana Mihajlovic. The meeting was an excellent opportunity to assess the current cooperation between the two countries in areas under the Minister’s responsibility.



Swiss Ambassador visits Data Center in Kragujevac

On 26 April 2021, Swiss Ambassador Urs Schmid visited the Data Center in Kragujevac together with the Swiss Defense Attaché Urs Amiet and colleagues of the Swiss embassy. Launched in the end of 2020, the center is set to become the largest in Southeastern Europe. The delegation was hosted by the representatives of the Data Center, Boban Mihajlovic and Vuk Veizovic, and was guided through the facilities.
