Local governments invest awards in citizen projects

The winners of last year’s competition in collecting property taxes have committed to invest their awards in the projects that their citizens find the most important. The municipalities of Mali Zvornik, Gornji Milanovac, Apatin, Ljubovija and the City of Bor were awarded a total of EUR 870,000 for their achievements in collecting property taxes in their local communities. The awards were given within the “Property Tax Reform” program supported by the Government of Switzerland.

Switzerland's support to Serbia in the fight agains the Covid-19

Switzerland supports civil society organizations in Serbia

The Swiss supported program For an Active Civil Society Together (ACT) published a call for institutional grants for civil society organizations (CSOs) in Serbia. The call is open until 13th May for CSOs throughout Serbia. Up to 30 selected organizations, at least half of them based outside of Belgrade, will be supported to the tune of EUR 22,000 each, over the  next two years. Having in mind the current circumstances, applications will be received and processed via a special online platform.

Best local governments awarded for applying good governance principles in 2019

Medvedja, Uzice, Pozarevac and Becej are the winners of the 2019 Annual Award for the best town/municipality in applying good governance principles. With the award, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government (MPALSG) encourages and supports further improvement of good governance at the local level. The awards are given through the Swiss PRO Program co-funded by the Government of Switzerland.

E-parliament introduced in the Assembly of Vojvodina

Debates and decisions taken by the Assembly of Vojvodina are now public on an e-parliament platform. All citizens have direct access to discussions and decisions taken by their elected members of parliament. The initiative is supported by the Government of Switzerland.

Dual education - knowledge for the future

The Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Serbia (CCIS) organized a large conference on dual education in Belgrade on 23 December 2019. The aim of the conference, entitled “Dual education – knowledge for the future” was to present experience thus far with dual education implementation to representatives of the private sector, schools and other partners and institutions involved. Overall, 1,500 people were present, including the President of the state.
