Visitors' Centre Africa Hall

The Africa Hall in Addis Ababa, is an iconic building, representing Africa's history, unity and culture. Approved by the UN General Assembly, a project was launched to modernize the infrastrucuture with the aim of restoring it as a state-of-the-art conference centre and tourist attraction. The building of a visitors' centre is a strategic element of the overall project intended as a gateway for the public to interact with the Africa hall and the Pan-Africanist legacy this building enshrines.
Supporting Moldova in confiscating and recovering stolen assets (CRESTA)

In its path towards viable democracy, Moldova has to demonstrate commitment to some core values and standards, including the rule of law, which entails deep anti-corruption reforms. Whilst the country has adopted significant national legislation to fight corruption and improve asset recovery, the value of confiscated assets remains low. Switzerland will assist Moldovan anti-corruption institutions to enhance their capability to recover and manage stolen assets, ensuring effective application of the legislation.

Swiss contribution to multilateral peacebuilding – Phase 2 (2024)

The United Nations System needs an instrument to launch initiatives and gather resources for peacebuilding throughout agencies and instruments. The Peacebuilding Fund is serving this purpose and allows to articulate peacebuilding and development actions into relevant responses to existing crises and potential fragility areas. Switzerland’s contribution to the Fund is critical to assert its leading role in peacebuilding and recognized capacity to link local and global approaches.
TUR SC Child Protection and Education in Adıyaman

Adıyaman is one of the most severely affected provinces by the twin earthquakes (EQ) of February 2023. Formal education of over 160’000 students has been severely disrupted, and the EQ-induced traumas continue. Through an integrated protection and education intervention, Save the Children (SC) will address the persistent post-EQ education and psychosocial needs of refugee and host community children and youth still displaced and residing in container cities.
UNDP Typhoon Yagi, Sept. 2024

Three weeks after Typhoon Yagi made landfall, emergency relief efforts are moving into the recovery phase. This contribution will enable UNDP to address critical gaps in the relief response in Ha Giang Province. The project aims to prevent vulnerable people from falling back into poverty by supporting local household businesses and providing cash-based assistance to vulnerable households to improve their economic stability.

The Certificate of Advanced Studies in Development and Cooperation aims at building knowledge and skills in the field of international cooperation (IC). Originally set up to provide education of the Italian speaking Swiss NGO workers in the canton of Tessin, it offers nowadays education and specialisation on IC related methods and topics to Italian speaking professionals from all over Switzerland and contributes to academic excellence of the workforce in the IC sector.

Reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases – Healthy Life Project

Since 2015, Switzerland supports Moldova in addressing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and their impact on the population’s health. The Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine hindered the progress and increased the fragility of Moldova’s health system. In its exit phase, the project will focus on the sustainability of the improvements introduced in NCD prevention and control. By improving the performance of the public health and the primary healthcare systems, the project also strengthens the overall resilience of Moldovan’s health system.
Moldova: Continuity of care in case of catastrophic health events – Care4Living

Switzerland will support Moldovan health authorities in reforming the emergency care system and in building rehabilitation services in order to ensure timely medical care in cases of medical and public health emergencies. The program will contribute to enhancing the chances to survival and recovery for patients who are at risk or have suffered catastrophic health events (stroke, heart attack, multiple trauma). The program will use the development of healthcare services as a vehicle to foster dialogue between Moldova and its breakaway region of Transnistria.
Mécanisme de Réponse Rapide (RRM) au Burkina Faso

Près de 3 millions de personnes se sont déplacées au Burkina Faso (estimation de juin 2024), majoritairement des femmes et enfants, à cause de la crise sécuritaire. Ces déplacements internes prolongés et répétitifs augmentent la vulnérabilité et les besoins humanitaires de ces personnes. La Suisse soutient un mécanisme qui apporte une réponse rapide aux besoins urgents (nourriture, eau, hygiène, abri, protection et soutien psychosocial) des populations déplacées et des ménages hôtes vulnérables dans les zones difficiles d’accès.

Somali Resilience Programme (SomReP)

SomReP aims to foster sustainable livelihoods and increase the resilience of (agro-) pastoralist communities to climate shocks across Somalia. By supporting vulnerable communities to better cope with ecological disasters SomRep makes an important contribution to mitigate key drivers of fragility in Somalia and thereby promotes Switzerland’s interest to strengthen stability and economic develop ment in the Horn of Africa region.
Strengthening the Climate Adaptation Capacities in Georgia

Since 2017, Switzerland has contributed to national and international efforts to adapt to the increasing impacts of climate change in Georgia. It will continue to support the further development of the legal and policy framework for natural hazard mapping and zoning in 2024-2027, with an additional focus on strengthening the inclusion of women's voices, needs and capacities in disaster risk reduction. The project will also rely on the Swiss expertise on avalanche and landslide forecasting.
