Le contexte opérationnel des organisations humanitaires et de développement au Sahel est de moins en moins sûr. En contribuant aux financement des services de l’International NGO Security and Safety Organisation au Mali (INSO), au Burkina Faso et au Niger, la Suisse permet à ces organisations de remplir leurs mandats de lutte contre la pauvreté et de rester engagés en renforçant l’accès humanitaire dans des contextes fragiles. INSO met à leur disposition des analyses-conseils et des formations essentielles sur la sécurité.

War Trauma Rehabilitation in Ukraine: affected population assistance

Direct consequences of war result in an increased number of trauma patients evacuated from active conflict zones in need of physical rehabilitation, mental health and psychosocial support, and access to assistive technologies. The number of patients undergoing treatment is set to multiply in the coming weeks and months. This project seeks to rapidly ramp up urgently needed post-traumatic physical rehabilitation capacities (equipment and practitioner training) at Ukrainian hospitals in selected regions.

In order to cut weapon supply from western Ukraine, Russian forces continue to target transport lines and military infrastructure near cities like Lviv since the beginning of the war. On March 26, 2022, as a result of a missile strike on a military infrastructure, power lines were damaged, resulting in a voltage surge that led to failure of the variable frequency converter and electric engine at Sokilnyky pumping station in Lviv. One out of four pumps is out of service since then.

Moldova Capacity building of health professionals for mother and child emergency care

In the framework of national health contingency planning and upon request of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova medical experts of the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit provide training to health care professionals (doctors, nurses and midwives) in the emergency departments of four hospitals as well as to trainers of three training centres in order to improve the quality of emergency care for mother and children and other trauma patients in case of an additional major influx of Ukrainian refugees or mass causalities.

La situation sécuritaire en Haïti rend les déplacements par la route de la capitale vers le nord et le sud du pays difficiles, voire impossibles. Afin de permettre aux acteurs humanitaires et du développement d'accéder à leurs zones d'intervention, un soutien financier est apporté à l'organisation de vols humanitaires réguliers dans l'ensemble du pays par le service aérien onusien.

Moldova: SKAT Sanitary Units for Hosts of Ukranian Refugees

The large majority of Ukrainian refugees temporarily residing in Moldova is hosted in private households, mostly in rural areas. These houses do have space, however, water and sanitation conditions are often precarious. The project will equip 600 households with quality in-house sanitary facilities as well as sceptic tanks and a soak pits for the villages. The project will be implemented by the well-known SDC partner Skat together with its local sub-contractors.

Au Masisi, les conflits restent la source de nombreuses menaces de protection avec des effets négatifs sur les moyens de subsistance des populations. Le projet vise à renforcer la capacité des ménages et des structures communautaires à résister aux chocs liés aux conflits (résilience), grâce à l’amélioration de l’environnement protecteur, l’accès et la sécurisation des terres, permettant le développement de moyens de subsistance et de stratégies de survie.

Children and caregivers bear the brunt of the conflict in Northeast Nigeria, which hampers access to education and exposes them to multiple types of violence, abuse and exploitation. This initiative aims to enhance protection and learning outcomes for children through the provision of quality integrated child protection and formal and non-formal education services, as well as strengthened community-based support mechanisms. These combined actions will thus result in a safer environment for children and their families.
