COVID-19 Preparedness and Relief

The proposed interventions support the Government of Bangladesh in its efforts to fight against the further spread of COVID-19 and to address the socio-economic consequences for the Bangladeshi people, in particular for disadvantaged groups. Access to information, provision of safe water and food or cash support are among the key outputs. The long-standing experience of Switzerland and its implementing partners in various sectors of public life and trusted relationships with national and local governments add value to the intervention.

Life Without Violence

The project aims to contribute to reduce domestic violence, which is experienced by 70% of women in Bolivia, be it psychological, physical, sexual or economic. Good practices (in prevention and support) from the previous phase will be replicated and scaled up. Evidence-based advocacy at the policy level aims to improve procedures and the implementation of laws in an integral response model involving central and local state institutions and civil society. In addition, the project provides a comprehensive response towards combating the impact of COVID-19 on domestic violence.

Réponse à la crise alimentaire en Afrique de l’Ouest dans le cadre du COVID19

La soudure de juin à septembre 2020 s’annonçait déjà très difficile au plan alimentaire pour les populations de l’Afrique de l’Ouest. La crise liée au COVID19 les plonge immédiatement dans une crise alimentaire particulièrement grave. La DDC soutient d’une part, le Programme Alimentaire Mondial (PAM) pour fournir des vivres aux populations et d’autre part, le Réseau d’éleveurs Billital Maroobe (RBM) pour apporter assistance aux populations pastorales et renforcer leur résilience.

Community driven Watershed Management for Climate Change Adaptation in Nicaragua

The project will help 23’000 people in the Dipilto Basin to strengthen their resilience in the face of climate change and ensure that the community management model developed is institutionalized and replicated by national and regional bodies.

CROPS4HD - Consumption of Resilient Or-phan Crops & Products for Healthier Diets

The agroecological production and sale of neglected and underutilized species offers nutritional and health benefits for consumers, market opportunities for farmers and contribute to the sustainable use of biodiversity and climate change adaptation. In Chad, Niger, Tanzania and India and globally, SDC supports SWISSAID and its partners in establishing agroecological food and seed systems. FiBL, the leading Swiss Research Institute of Organic Agriculture supports this endeavour with scientific evidence.

Nutrition in City Ecosystems (NICE)

The Nutrition in City Ecosystems (NICE) project aims to improve nutrition and health, and to reduce poverty by increasing the demand and supply of diverse, agroecologically produced foods. Implemented by a Swiss public private consortium, NICE focusses on women, youth and vulnerable populations. City governments in two secondary cities each in Bangladesh, Kenya and Rwanda will be supported, and learning between cities, incl. Swiss cities, will be facilitated to contribute to the global discourse on sustainable food systems.

PAEG - Programme d’Appui à l’Egalité du Genre

Se basant sur son engagement de longue haleine en faveur de l’égalité du genre au Bénin, la Suisse entend soutenir l’Etat béninois dans la mise en œuvre effective des lois et politiques visant à réduire la vulnérabilité socio-économique de sa population féminine. En jouissant pleinement de leurs droits, les femmes béninoises joueront un rôle plus actif dans le développement de leur pays et contribueront au renforcement de la paix et de la cohésion sociale.

Munathara – Debating our Destiny

The project aims to further institutionalize a culture of credible and non-partisan debate in the MENA region on relevant social, economic and political issues in different contexts. It reinforces the inclusion of MENA citizens of youth, women and other social groups including Arab refugees in the discussion to give them a voice to become potential opinion leaders. The poject is implemented by the Munathara Initiative, already a well positioned debate organization in the MENA region with a record of impartiality.

Strengthening the Role of Local Communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Project will enhance community governance in BiH by empowering local communities (MZs) as modern and effective structures for pro-active citizens’ participation. A new functional and organizational set up of MZs in BiH will be created and standardized countrywide. In turn, women and men will benefit from more people-centred local service delivery, better accountability and transparency of municipalities.

L’agriculture constitue la principale source d’emploi et de revenu au Bénin. Or, les réformes dans le secteur de l’agriculture ne sont pas encore toutes définies de commun accord avec tous les acteurs. La Suisse contribue au renforcement institutionnel et à la gouvernance des faîtières des producteurs et éleveurs afin que ces derniers puissent mieux jouer leurs rôles d’interpellation, de proposition, de participation et de suivi de la mise en œuvre des politiques agricoles.

Programme d’Appui au Secteur du Développement Rural (Wusua Dabu) - PASDeR

Au Bénin, l’agriculture constitue la principale source d’emploi et de revenu. Des reformes ont été initiées par le gouvernement pour promouvoir les filières agricole et animale. Se basant sur les acquis des phases précédentes, la DDC vise à mettre à l’échelle le programme en élargissant la zone géographique d’intervention sur tout le Nord et d’augmenter le nombre de filières cibles, tout en s’inscrivant dans une approche plus économique et créatrice d’emplois pour les jeunes et les femmes.

Kyrgyzstan Electoral Support Programme (KESP)

The programme aims at promoting fair, inclusive, transparent and peaceful elections in Kyrgyzstan by building technical capacities and expertise of key institutions responsible for administering elections and by empowering Kyrgyz citizens, including underrepresented groups like women, youth, ethnic minorities and persons with disabilities, to participate and exercise their electoral rights.
