2025 Additional allocation to WFP Country Strategic Plan South Sudan

Since April 2023, the ongoing conflict in Sudan has caused a humanitarian catastrophe of massive magnitude within the country. It has also deeply affected the neighbouring countries, in particular the most fragile ones such as Chad, South Sudan and the Central African Republic, which were already facing levels of severe food insecurity. With no end in sight to the conflict, Swiss additional funding supports WFP operations in Sudan and in the region to deliver much needed life-saving food and nutrition assistance.

Its science is dedicated to poverty reduction, food and nutrition security, ecosystems management, climate adaptation and mitigation and gender equality and social inclusion. CGIAR has a singular role in providing global public goods and innovations through high-quality research. Switzerland is a founding member of CGIAR, represented in its strategic decision-making body and Swiss scientists and institutions are involved in CGIAR-led research programmes.
Swiss contribution to multilateral peace-building – Phase 3 (2025-2026)

In line with Switzerland’s foreign policy goal of preventing conflicts and fostering peaceful development, the Peacebuilding Fund offers the United Nations a flexible tool to allocate resources across agencies for peacebuilding and development efforts aimed at reducing existing tensions or averting future crises. Switzerland’s support for the Fund is essential to complement its well-established role in promoting peace and development in fragile settings.

Funding to ICRC’s operations allows the ICRC to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. The contribution is part of the Federal Council’s decision from 26 November 2025 to grant CHF 23 million to support the “Gaza Peace Plan” of the United States.
2025 Additional Allocation to UNHCR Operations in Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan

SDC funding to UNHCR operations allows the UN Refugee Agency to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance to refugees and internally displaced people in life-threatening situations and underfunded emergencies. Switzerland provides an additional contribution of CHF 5’000’000 in 2025 to support UNHCR operations in Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan.
Asset Recovery Strategic Partnerships

Switzerland supports strategic partners in asset recovery who provide technical assistance to countries, advocate for international standards, and facilitate knowledge and exchange on international efforts and ongoing cases. The partnerships leverage Switzerland’s potential to influence the agenda more effectively, facilitate the integration of international best practices in ongoing restitution negotiations, and help ensure that returned assets benefit the populations of states of origin.

Public interest media in low- and middle-income countries face existential threats, impact-ing sustainable development and peace. IFPIM is an organization backing the resilience and independence of public interest media. Through SDC’s contribution to IFPIM, Swit-zerland promotes democracy by combating dis- and misinformation and ensuring media freedom and access to reliable information.
Voluntary Contribution to the Adaptation Fund (AF)

The Adaptation Fund (AF) has a proven track record for implementing innovative adaptation projects, including in SDC priority countries. It supports most vulnerable communities to increase their resilience and adaptation capacities in the face of the rapidly rising impacts of climate change including extreme weather events and slow onset processes. It is one of the four climate funds that reports to the Conference of the Parties to the Paris Agreement.
