Second Allocation of SDC Funding to ICRC Operations in 2015

In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. SDC funding to ICRC operations allows the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence.

Safety and security services to Palestinian and international NGOs in Gaza

Gaza is an extremely volatile environment with high security and safety risks. UNDSS has developed mechanisms for security management which does not include NGOs staff nor diplomats. INSO (International NGO Safety Office) is a project which complements the UNDSS framework and provides security and safety services to NGOs working in the difficult and extremely fragile environment  of Gaza. These services allows the NGOs based on the information provided by INSO to better assess the security situation, to improve their awareness and to increase their competences and skills in security and safety management  and to rely on a well-coordinated system in case of evacuation. INSO  also provides a platform for NGOs to exchange on security and safety issues

One off Allocation (Cash) of SDC Funding to UNICEF emergency Operations in 2015

In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of addressing underfunded crisis in a more predictable manner. SDC funding to UNICEF emergency programmes in 8 underfunded emergency situations allows UNICEF to better plan its assistance programmes and proactively respond to situations as needed. Moreover contributions will not be thematically earmarked except in Chad (WASH), Myanmar (Child Protection)and in Syria (SHARP).

Red Cross programme contribution East 2015 - 2016

The SRC’s overall goal is to contribute to healthy and safe living for vulnerable groups and communities. Since access to quality health care services remains a key factor for good health, the SRC promotes both supply and demand side of local health systems. As healthy living also depends on the environment, SRC focuses on health determinants such as water, sanitation, nutrition and health literacy. Adressing risks and disasters, SRC programmes encompass disaster risk reduction measures and foster community resilience.

RCA - MSF-F Paoua Santé primaire et secondaire

Par son appui financier au projet de MSF-F à Paoua, la DDC souhaite contribuer à la réduction de la morbidité et la mortalité dans la sous-préfecture de Paoua (province de l’Ouham-Pende) en offrant un accès gratuit et de qualité aux soins de santé primaire et secondaire à la population. Cette sous-préfecture a été identifiée dans le Plan de réponse humanitaire comme une sous-préfecture à haute vulnérabilité dans le domaine de la santé.

Médecins sans Frontières programme contribution Humanitarian Aid 2015 - 2016

Médecins Sans Frontières Suisse (MSF) delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF’s main focus is on medical assistance, but occasionally carries out other activities (food distributions, water and sanitation, shelter, etc.) when no other actors are able or willing to do so. Besides, when necessary, MSF speaks out publicly to bring attention to neglected crises, to challenge inadequacies or abuse of the aid system, and to advocate for improved medical treatments and protocols.

Contributions to OCHA Field Operations in 2015

OCHA is responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure coherent response to emergencies and facilitates the work of operational humanitarian agencies in the field.  SDC aims to support OCHA in delivering its core functions in humanitarian coordination, advocacy and policy development. Therefore, SDC seeks to provide support to OCHA field offices in relevant humanitarian contexts, in line with SDC geographic and thematic priorities.

Médecins du Monde, contribution de programme sud 2015 - 2016

Médecins du Monde Suisse vise à assurer un accès universel à la santé sexuelle, reproductive, et à la santé de l’enfant avec une priorité d’action auprès des personnes exclues. Cette conception de la santé materno-infantile permet de mettre en cohérence les aspects curatifs et préventifs de l’action en santé tout en lui conférant une continuité dans l’espace – de la famille, aux communautés et aux structures de santé - et dans les phases – entre développement et urgence.
