Building community health resilience and alleviating poverty through multisectoral cooperation for elimination of schistosomiasis in Cambodia and Laos PDR

The project contributions of the SDC and the Chinese International Development Cooperation Agency to the two World Health Organisation offices of Cambodia and Lao PDR will foster the elimination of schistosomiasis (Mekongi) in the hard-to-reach areas along the Mekong River. It will contribute to community empowerment on health issues and strengthen the health authorities’ capacities in the fight against this neglected tropical disease. The Swiss TPH will inject its decades of Swiss expertise in the Mekong to the interventions.


Catalyst for a Harmonised Approach on Nexus for Growth and Empowerment (CHANGE)

Switzerland is leading the humanitarian-development nexus approach to the protracted Rohingya crisis in Bangladesh through five UN agencies, which will work to mainstream and institutionalise cross-sectoral cooperation by strengthening the capacity of local non-governmental organisations. This will not only improve assistance to refugees and advance durable solutions, but also promote local ownership and leadership of the Rohingya response, ultimately reducing costs.


Arts and Culture Programme in Nepal

The Arts and Culture programme aims to invigorate Nepal's arts sector by partnering with three local cultural spaces focused on documentaries, music and photography. it promotes creative expression, professional growth, gender equality and social inclusion and community engagement, contributing to cultural development and an inclusive Nepali society. The programme aligns with SDC’s Thematic Guidance on Culture and Development, supporting independent, diverse and participatory cultural sectors.


Appui au renforcement des capacités de résilience des populations vulnérables du Batha – REPAR

L’intervention vise à améliorer la sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle des populations vulnérables de la province du Batha de manière holistique, à travers une approche prenant en compte à la fois les activités de développement et humanitaire. Le projet appuie la mise en place d’un mécanisme local durable de prévention et de gestion des crises alimentaires, l’augmentation des revenus des ménages vulnérables et l’assistance alimentaire pendant les périodes de soudure.


Nigeria, INSO, Improved protection of relief personnel and effectiveness of humanitarian action

The armed conflict in north-east Nigeria continues unabated, while the violence in the north-west has spiralled out of control, thus posing acute challenges to humanitarian aid. INSO enables humanitarian organisations to access safety services to improve their situational awareness and decision-making, and to strengthen their emergency preparedness and response. By supporting this initiative, SDC contributes to improved humanitarian access and effective assistance to conflict affected populations.   


Food security and livelihood assistance to conflict-affected populations in Northeast Nigeria

Food insecurity and malnutrition remain prevalent across Northeast Nigeria, driven by insecurity leading to displacement and lack of access to farmland. This is further compounded since 2023 by soaring inflation. The situation is affecting up to 4.8 million food insecure people in 2024. SDC’s continued funding to FAO seeks to further strengthen the resilience of crisis-affected people by sustainably improving their food production and productivity with a particular focus on women.


Vietnam: SET Typhoon Yagi September 2024

As an emergency response to the suffering people in Vietnam impacted of the Typhoon Yagi, most powerful storm in the past 30 years, a rapid response team is deployed to Vietnam. It will assess and coordinate Swiss humanitarian assistance together with the Vietnam Disaster Management Authority in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Based on this assessment further action lines will be defined.


Emergency Appeal- Floods -2024

Through this International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies appeal, the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society will address the needs of the flood affected communities by providing support for shelter, food security, livelihoods, health, water, sanitation, and hygiene in targeted regions within Bangladesh.


Women’s Economic Empowerment in the South Caucasus (WEE)

01.09.2024 - 31.12.2026

Switzerland has been successfully supporting women and their businesses in Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan since 2017. In this final phase of the project, Switzerland aims to institutionalize gender-related policies at national and local levels, build the capacities of the governmental and non-governmental partners to continue promoting women's empowerment and encourage the private sector to support more women in the formal economy.


Increasing Market Employability (IME)

North Macedonia’s economy is characterised by persistently slow growth rates as a result of low productivity due to outdated practices and scarce labour force due to high emigration. To address this, Switzerland, through its Increasing Market Employability project, supports small and medium-sized enterprises in sustainable agribusiness and tourism to become more competitive and environmentally sustainable by improving their products and services, while creating decent employment. The duration of the project is extended until 31.12.2026.


FAIRWAY - Interregional Programme to promote decent work for migrant workers from Africa to the Arab States

01.09.2024 - 31.05.2028

Decent work for low-income migrant workers in the Middle East is promoted, in sectors particularly prone to forced labor and exploitation, affecting increasingly African workers. Through improved services, access to justice and representation, migrant workers have their rights protected. Interregional and regional cooperation is promoted for improved labor migration governance and safe migration, thereby enhancing the development benefits for countries of origin and destination.


Andean Regional Initiative on Adaptation to Climate Change (ARIACC)

01.09.2024 - 31.08.2027

ARIACC aims to increase the resilience of Andean Family Agriculture to climate change by improving the implementation of relevant policies, building capacity, leveraging investments, scaling innovative practices and promoting regional and global knowledge exchange. Close multisectoral collaboration will ensure the sustainability and scaling of the initiative. The project builds on longstanding SDC experience in the region and consolidates successful achievements of Phase 1 while sharing them globally.
