Support to Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU)

AREU is one of a few national organisations that conduct policy-relevant research. Research reports produced by AREU are effectively responding to policy needs and are widely used by the GoA and international community. AREU builds national research capacity and provides a number of unique services. SDC’s contribution enables AREU to develop institutionally, build local research capacity, conduct reliable research studies and stay impartial in the complex political arena of Afghanistan.

International dialogue on migration and development (M&D) aims to engage with States and contribute to their migration governance while linking it with development concerns to impact the design of migration policies, the formulation of developmental and poverty alleviation strategies, and foster livelihood opportunities for migrants and their families. The SDC’s Global Programme on Migration and Development (GPMD), alongside other SDC units, Swiss and international actors, is well positioned to enrich the debate and enhance the M&D capacity of States by shaping key areas of this dialogue as a result of its innovative role in the Swiss Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) Chairmanship in 2011.

Aumento de oferta de serviços financeiros para a população rural é um dos principais objectivos do Governo. O projecto tem como objectivo oferecer serviços financeiros diversificados 85% da população sem acesso, nomeadamente aos micro e pequenos empresários e mulheres e homens agricultores. Os serviços serão prestados de maneira profissional e rentável por um micro banco financiado por uma empresa privada suíça experiente no sector que também vai desenvolver um currículo profissional completo para funcionários de instituições bancárias e de seguros rurais.

Increasing the Effectiveness of Migration Management

Il progetto "Job Orientation Training in Businesses and Schools (JOBS)" integra il sistema scolastico in quello del mercato del lavoro. Il progetto prepara gli allievi dell'ultimo anno del liceo classico e i giovani del primo anno delle scuole medie tecniche a valutare al meglio le proprie competenze e al primo contatto con il mondo del lavoro. Gli allievi approfondiscono le informazioni sulle varie opportunità professionali e hanno quindi maggiori chance di scegliere un percorso di formazione adeguato.

Water Programme Aswan, Component 3: Water Efficiency and Economic Support (WEE) in Nasr El Nuba and Kom Ombo

Egypt is a water scarce country and despite recent reforms in the water sector, major challenges remain. Based on needs identified by local authorities and past experiences by the Egyptian-Swiss Development Fund, the programme aims to improve public water supply and management, increase management and income from rehabilitated irrigation systems as well as sensitizing the population about water-related issues.

Humanisation of residence services, Roznov pod Radhostem

The project aims at providing a dignified environment for seniors in the “Aged Persons Home Roznov pod Radhostem” by reconstructing 51 living units, sanitary facilities and by building a new therapeutic room. In addition, qualified social workers will introduce modern methods of individualized work with residents, which will lead to the provision of high quality social services.
 

Enhancing Municipal Responsiveness and Social Accountability of local authorities in the OPT

This programme aims at strengthening Palestinian local authorities’ capacities to perform their mandate through enhancing municipal responsiveness and social accountability in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt). This intervention in line with the SDC cooperation strategy for the oPt that aims at contributing to the establishment of a democratic Palestinian State through addressing access and quality of basic services delivered to Palestinian citizens (refugees and non-refugees) and strengthening the Rule of Law.

Making Labour Market Work for Young People in Albania

An estimated 34% of Albania's youth are unemployed or underemployed. The main causes of this situation are low labour demand, ineffective job matching services and lack of skills. Youth employment is a priority and the Swiss-supported project “Making Labour Market work for Young People” - RisiAlbania - responds to this issue by promoting entry into the labour market.
