Thirty-two years after the first Poetry Slam event in Chicago,
Ideogramma undertook and organized the first ever Poetry Slam Cyprus in 2017 at the ARTos Foundation in Nicosia, aiming to provoke and push poetry to the limits, to seek new forms of expression, always staying abreast of the contemporary international poetry trends.

Poetry Slam Cyprus 2018 in its second edition hosts seven poet slammers from abroad while Cyprus based poets have been invited through an Open Call.

The Embassy has the pleasure to announce that Switzerland is represented by Narcisse: Musicolgist and doctor of philosophy, Narcisse worked for a long time as an IT specialist, before he discovered slam poetry. Since 2013, he makes a living from his art.

Other slammers from abroad are: Carmen Michels (Belgium), Alex Burkhard (Germany), Yonatan Kunda & Muhamad Mugrabi (Israel), Goran Zivkovic (Serbia) and Alma Kirlic (Sweden).

In this poetry competition, each participant has a maximum of three minutes to present his or her work before a five member jury and the public.

Readings by seven poets from abroad / Competition for Cyprus based poets with six finalists entering competition on 27 March.

Tuesday, 27 March 2018: Arrival 19h / Start 19.30h

Competition: 1st round - 13 poet slammers / 2nd round - 6 poet slammers / 3 winners will be selected.           

The evening is rounded off with a jazz concert featuring Sarah Fenwick.
