New opportunities for civil society in Kosovo

A new civil society program Engagement for Joint Action (EJA Kosovo) has been launched by the Kosovo Civil Society Foundation (KCSF). Co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Swedish Agency for International Development and Cooperation (Sida), EJA Kosovo will support civil society initiatives through grants and capacity building with the overall aim to contribute to a democratic and inclusive society in Kosovo.

SDC supports the development of tourism in Kosovo

A new touristic attraction is added to the list of things to do in Prizren. Via Ferrata ‘Panorama’ is a 500-meter long climbing trail in Lumbardhi Gorge that will enable outdoor enthusiasts to test their limits in the south of Kosovo mountains.

‘Water for All’ Joint Balkans Conference and Exhibition

At the opening ceremony of the Joint Balkans Conference and Exhibition ‘Water for All’, organized by SHUKOS/SHUKALB, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Kosovo, Jean-Hubert Lebet noted that Kosovo has the most advanced water governance in the region. This relates to water services organization and management, including the consolidation of its water utilities, as well as providing the best coverage with drinking water, particularly in rural areas. These are joint achievements of Kosovo partners and donors, particularly German and Swiss.

Marking the Crime Victims’ Rights Week

On the occasion of the international conference “Marking the Crime Victims’ Rights Week”, the Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo, Katharina Stocker stated that criminal justice should be taken very seriously. She emphasized that it is the right of every citizen to feel safe and know that the justice system functions impartially.

Building resources to fight corruption

Over 40 officials of the police, prosecutors, tax, customs, Anti-corruption Agency officials, financial intelligence agents and investigative journalists were licensed in Fraud Examination and Forensic Accounting following a year-long training. The training was developed in the frame of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)-funded Support to Anti-corruption Efforts in Kosovo (SAEK) in partnership with the Kosovo Association of Accountants and Auditors (SCAAK) and was accredited by the Kosovo Accreditation Agency.

Important information about new Schengen visa procedure

14.08.2018 — Local news Kosovo
As of September 3, 2018 Schengen visa applications for Switzerland, France, Austria and the Benelux must be submitted at the local outsourcing agency TLScontact. The applications will then be transferred to the Embassy of Switzerland for decision. The visa applicants may file a visa application online and fix an appointment on the TLScontact webpage
