This livestock project would complement the SDC portfolio addressing livestock productivity and production management issues (health, breeding, management). A Model Herd Program shall allow local herders supported by their locally trained veterinarians to develop quality animals with increased production, decreased birthing loss, greater financial return from animal products finally leading to smaller herds. The project would focus on yak and camel herding, which are ancient and traditional livelihoods of herders living in high mountain, dessert and semi dessert zones.
