Improving working conditions for students and teachers in Cluj-Napoca

Two schools in Cluj-Napoca with long tradition and importance for the regional education system are rehabilitated thermally through funds of the Swiss Contribution to the enlarged European Union.

The financing documents regarding "Thermal Rehabilitation of Pre-University Units in Cluj-Napoca" were signed on 27 August 2015. This project is part of the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Programme and aims to improve the thermal efficiency of the National College "George Coșbuc" and the High school of Music "Sigismund Toduță". The buildings of both schools will be brought to the energy class level B and, as a result, yearly savings estimated to 1,202 MWh, 200 t of CO2 emissions reduction and over CHF 100,000 will be obtained, by reducing the energy consumption and maintenance cost. Last but not least, the project  will also improve the working conditions for students and teachers.

The agreements were signed by Mr Stefan Dubach, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Switzerland, representing the financing country, Mr György Attila, State Secretary in the Ministry of Public Finance, acting as National Coordination Unit of the Programme, and Mrs Sevil Shhaideh, Minister of Regional Development and Public Administration, the Intermediate Body for Area 4 to the Swiss - Romanian Cooperation Programme.

The total project value is CHF 1,655,698, out of which CHF 1,407,343 is the Swiss contribution. The implementation of the project will take 19 months.
