Contesto

The context in South Sudan has changed significantly since the outbreak of armed conflict in mid-December. The crisis comes on top of already large-scale humanitarian needs. Currently there are over 202’000 refugees from neighbouring Sudan present in different camps throughout the country. The second largest camp of Yusuf Batil in Upper Nile holds almost 40’000 people. Medair’s response in health and WASH began in 2012 and was since then increased at the request of UNHCR. In 2014, Medair will be the primary partner for WASH, health and nutrition services in Yusuf Batil Camp. With the very limited capacities of the host community, refugees depend on UN and NGOs to provide basic services.
