South Sudan Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF) Contribution 2014

Progetto concluso

The various humanitarian interventions in South Sudan require an excellent donor coordination and justifiable prioritization procedure. The Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF) South Sudan, established in 2012, does not only provide timely and substantial financial provisions for humanitarian projects, it also brings together several important stakeholders involved in the humanitarian response in South Sudan. Contributing to the CHF means to strengthen this mechanism and enable financial support to the most critical interventions, but it also ensures the inclusion of SDC in decision making processes and facilitates a coordinated and strengthened advocacy within the international community.

Contesto

On 15th of December 2013, armed clashes quickly evolved along tribal lines and caused an ongoing humanitarian crisis. The current crisis has led to devastating humanitarian consequences and the lives of millions of citizens have been shattered. Furthermore, disruption of market and livestock routes, cattle rustling, humanitarian access constraints and loss of assets through looting have exacerbated the food security situation in the country.

Obiettivi

The CHF only supports humanitarian projects. Under the standard allocations, projects within the Crisis Response Plan are supported. Contributing to the CHF therefore helps targeting the most affected people in need.
