The last phase of RisiAlbania will continue to consolidate a functional labour market system that performs sustainably. The project will support businesses to grow through increased access to markets, competitiveness and resilience, leading to the creation of more and better jobs for young women and men. It will scale up its support for improving career intermediation, guidance as well as non-formal skills provision for youth to get access to jobs.

Smart Packaging Waste Management

The prevalent improper management of waste in North Macedonia is a pressing environmental topic and a top priority of the Government. SDC supports North Macedonia by engaging with the non-profit private sector packaging recovery organization Pakomak to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and transparency of the national packaging waste recovery system through the digitalisation of the primary selection and collection process.

Support to Ukraine Reform Conference 2022

Switzerland will co-host the 5th Ukraine Reform Conference in Lugano (4-5 July 2022). In addition to events held outside Ukraine, Switzerland will support an inclusive and multi-stakeholder in-country preparatory process to generate broader support for reforms and to present concrete commitments at the conference itself. For this purpose, it will organize a series of activities in Ukraine including civil society, the private sector, local authorities, academia and government institutions.

The United Nations Volunteer Programme (UNV) promotes volunteerism across the United Nations and mobilizes volunteers worldwide. SDC finances the placement of young Swiss graduates within SDCs priority multi-lateral organisations. This provides them with invaluable working experience in the multi-lateral system, supports the efforts of the UN system to deliver on the 2030 Agenda and introduces Swiss values into UN organisations.

Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative (StAR)

Asset recovery remains an important priority for Switzerland, which plays a pioneering role. Strengthening the rule of law is one of 4 priority topics of the Strategy on International Cooperation 2021-2024. Demand for expertise on asset recovery remains high around the world. This contribution will support the Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative (StAR), a partnership between the World Bank Group and the United Nations that supports international efforts to recover stolen assets and to end safe havens for corrupt funds.

Financing Durable Solutions Programme for Forcibly Displaced People (FDSI)

Through an innovative approach, Switzerland will mobilize the private sector and municipalities to contribute to durable solutions for displacement-affected communities in the Horn of Africa. Forcibly displaced persons and their host communities will benefit from enhanced self-reliance and increased socioeconomic inclusion. The initiative operationalises the strategic link between migration policy and international cooperation and further strengthens Switzerland’s profile as a pioneer in the search for durable solutions.
Impact of Innovative Financing for Education to Leave No One Behind (IFE-2-LNOB)

Innovative financing mechanisms for education are expected to help reaching SDG 4 on inclusive and equitable quality education. However, limited research has been conducted on these mechanisms. IFE-2-LNOB will assess specific innovative financing mechanisms such as impact bonds and a social lending scheme with regards to their effectiveness and cost efficiency towards quality education of marginalized children and young adults.
Solution-oriented research for development programme (SOR4D programme)

New insights and innovative approaches are needed to reduce poverty and implement the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development in lower and lower-middle income countries. Joint efforts of Swiss researchers, development actors and researchers from the Global South/East can make a difference. The SOR4D programme brings these actors together in order to provide research results answering the pre identified practical need of development actors and thus serve poor, marginalized and vulnerable population groups.

This programme aims at catalysing new financial mechanisms and partnerships, including with the Swiss finance sector, which promote water-related ecosystem services of forests as a ‘climate solution’ vital to the water cycle and to the benefit of society. While global in scope it will focus low and lower-middle income countries. It will leverage Swiss Know-How across the Federal Administration and contribute to the climate mainstreaming goal of the Dispatch 2021-24.

LEB Access and Quality Education for refugee and vulnerable host community children

The education sector in Lebanon is facing multiple crises, leading to the discontinuity of learning for many children. Switzerland’s contribution to Plan International and Save the Children will provide children in the Bekaa and Baalbek-Hermel governorates with improved access to and retention in quality, safe and inclusive education. The project follows a triple nexus approach by considering immediate humanitarian needs and aiming at the reintegration of out-of-school children while fostering social cohesion in a context of mounting tensions.

RESPECT - Redevabilité, sécurité et prévention de l’extrémisme violent pour les citoyennes et citoyens tunisiens

L’intervention vise à renforcer la capacité de la Commission Nationale de la Lutte contre le Terrorisme (CNLCT) dans la prévention de l’extrémisme violent (PEV) en améliorant la coordination entre les acteurs clés des secteurs de la sécurité et de la justice. L’approche choisie est holistique combinant des activités qui ont pour objectifs de renforcer la cohésion sociale en ciblant les groupes à risque. Un autre aspect de l’intervention consiste à soutenir la réforme du secteur de la sécurité afin que celui-ci soit conforme avec les standards internationaux régissant les droits humains.
