Le Burkina Faso fait face à des crises de sécurité alimentaire et de malnutrition récurrentes pour des raisons structurelles et conjoncturelles. L’approche intégrée et innovatrice proposée par ce projet vise à améliorer les conditions de vie et développer la résilience des populations vulnérables selon trois axes : la récupération des enfants malnutris ; la mise en place de groupes d’apprentissage communautaires pour les femmes enceintes et les mères d’enfant; ainsi que l’amélioration de l’environnement sanitaire et des moyens d’existence. Ce programme s’inscrit dans la nouvelle vision du « programme lait » de la Confédération.

Intelligence Sector Reform Programme (Pool-Funding)

The aim is to build the capacity of members of intelligence services, as well as relevant oversight and control bodies to ensure that surveillance measures by intelligence services in Macedonia are conducted in accordance with international standards of accountability and respect for human rights. To achieve this, the project will train and provide expertise to members of intelligence services, relevant parliamentary oversight committees and the judiciary, and will support the review and redrafting of relevant laws and regulations.

Somalia - Inclusive and accountable governance

In 2012, a comprehensive state-building process along federalist principles started in Somalia. Switzerland will contribute to a more inclusive, accountable and equitable governance system by focusing on the constitutional review process and strengthening the parliamentarians’ capacities. It will promote knowledge sharing, exchange of Somali, Swiss and international expertise, and public discourse to foster Somali-owned governance arrangement.

Disaster Risk Reduction for Sustainable Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Joint UN Project

High exposure to natural hazards coupled with insufficient technical, organizational, and financial capacities of BiH’s institutions and governments directly impede the country’s socio-economic development and increase population vulnerability. This Project, jointly implemented by five UN Agencies, will reduce the social and economic vulnerabilities of citizens and institutions affected by disasters and climate change by introducing and operationalizing an integrated model of disaster risk governance and livelihood enhancement starting with selected local municipalities.

Labour migration remains a key driver for development in Bangladesh. The present project strengthens the socio-economic development of the country by providing better life perspectives for migrant workers. It enables migrant workers and their families to take informed decisions towards a productive and safe migration experience with reduced social costs. This supports implementation of the parliamentary mandate to better link Swiss migration policy with international cooperation.

Cox’s Bazar District is currently hosting approx. 900’000 refugees from Myanmar. A high proportion remain in a chronic emergency situation due to long-term challenges to find durable solutions on safe return. Handicap International’s intervention aims to improve access to specific health services for both refugees and host community members by supporting a public hospital and providing assistance with a particular focus on the most vulnerable and to people with disabilities.

Repubblica democratica del Congo: sostegno nella lotta contro l’epidemia di ebola

Il carattere imprevedibile della situazione umanitaria e delle epidemie nella Repubblica democratica del Congo mette a dura prova. Il Congo è alle prese con la decima ondata di ebola nella storia del Paese. La DSC e Medair hanno dimostrato grande flessibilità adattando i loro interventi per prevenire la diffusione del virus nella provincia settentrionale di Kivu.

Support to the reform of mental health services in Moldova

In 2013 Switzerland started supporting Republic of Moldova in a systemic reform of the mental health (MH), aimed at bringing MH services closer to users by providing treatment in a community setting. The project second phase will contribute to further increase the access to and utilization of quality community-based mental health services and health education programs by the means of a nationwide scaling-up.

Remote sensing-based Information and Insurance for Crops in Emerging economies (RIICE) - Phase 3

Extreme weather events increasingly affect small-scale producers in Asia. Satellites and other information technologies present tremendous potential for improved country-wide monitoring of crop growth and insurance solutions for extreme weather events. With RIICE, SDC supports the integration of expertise from Swiss private actors and international public research centres toward modernizing public agricultural services and crop insurance programmes, offering performant solutions to Governments and producers to cope with production shortfalls.

Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC)

Vector-borne diseases are a major cause of mortality and morbidity, and hamper economic progress of the poorest. Vector control (VC) is a highly cost-effective measure to address neglected tropical diseases and malaria, but research and development for better VC products remains insufficient. Innovative Vector Control Consortium is the only product development partnership for VC and has a unique position to address this market failure.

Private Sector Development in Southwest Serbia

The Project – a mandate to the Regional Development Agency Zlatibor – will contribute to increased income and employment opportunities of Southwest Serbia’s inhabitants, especially young people and women. Prevention of violence and mitigation of conflicts during parliamentary election cycle

The national parliamentary elections foreseen for late 2018 will be important for Bangladesh’s future development. The risk of political unrest and violence in the run-up to the elections is likely to increase. Against this background a number of like-minded development partners have agreed on a package of accompanying measures to contribute to peaceful elections. SDC proposes to associate itself to this program.
