Nigeria UNHAS: Access to north-east through provision of humanitarian flights

Access to north-east Nigeria remains very difficult and dangerous since bombings, attacks and counter-insurgency activities are happening on a regular basis. UN agencies and humanitarian organizations at large have increased their response in and around the states’ capitals and need to benefit from safe and reliable flights to access their operational areas. Supporting UNHAS will ensure humanitarian access to north-east Nigeria through the provision of safe and reliable air transport services as well as to provide capacity for evacuation of humanitarian staff when required.

Fostering Regional and Local Development in Georgia

Thanks to this project 23 municipalities in 4 regions of Georgia (over 900’000 inhabitants) are able to support citizens and local businesses in setting up economic development initiatives. This in turn will generate additional employment and attract investment to rural areas.

PADIT apoya el fortalecimiento del desarrollo local en Cuba, genera herramientas de gestión descentralizada basadas en la articulación y cooperación entre niveles de decisión (nacional, provincial, municipal e intermunicipal) y entre el sector público y el privado y cooperativo para crear servicios y actividades productivas y mejorar opciones de empleo e ingresos, con énfasis en mujeres y jóvenes. A la vez, PADIT moviliza la participación ciudadana en las decisiones locales.

Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF)

ARTF is a coordinated on-budget financing mechanism for the state, administered by the World Bank. Its priority national investment projects focus on agriculture, rural development, infrastructure, education, health and governance. Since the initiation of the Trust Fund in 2002, Millions of Afghan women, men and children have gained access to services and improved their income. It also significantly contributed to the Afghan state’s capacity.

L’intervention contribue à la prévention de l’extrémisme violent en renforçant la capacité des autorités à déterminer les causes de celui-ci et les moyens de les prévenir par des actions concrètes dans tous les secteurs d’activité de l’Etat, en collaboration étroite avec la société civile. Elle vise notamment à améliorer la relation de confiance entre les citoyens et les agents de l’Etat chargés de garantir leur sécurité par une meilleure redevabilité, une information plus transparente du public et une implication de la société civile dans les décisions.

Switzerland is supporting the Global Programme on Inclusive and Equitable Local Development (IELD) to promote the economic empowerment of women through gender responsive policies and inclusive finance. Direct beneficiaries include women associations, women led enterprises, farmer associations and industry associations. This support also aims to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of a joint UN programme at global and country levels.

Le projet ASAP-M phase 2 accompagne cinq Associations Professionnelles au Maroc, pour l’amélioration de leurs prestations envers les membres afin d’augmenter la performance des Micro, Petites et Moyennes Entreprises en termes de compétitivité, revenu et emploi. Lao Upland Rural Advisory Services (LURAS)

The rapid transformation of the rural economy brings smallholder farmers in contact with a wide range of new service providers (private agribusiness companies, farmer organisations, non-profit associations). The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) recognizes that greater pluralism in service provision is needed. LURAS supports a multi-stakeholder market-based approach to promote demand-driven service provision to farmers and strengthen the capacities of farmers’ organizations.

Public Investment in Energy Efficiency Phase 2 (PIE2)

PIE2 aims to increase effectiveness of Public Investment Management (PIM) and of Public Finance Management (PFM) replicating and upscaling the achievements of PIE1 in the two poorest districts of Ulaanbaatar city. Improved PIM and PFM capacities, practices, procedures and regulations will be applied to the thermoretrofitting of public buildings, i.e. 20 schools and kindergartens, aiming for demonstration effect for replication. The need to improve education facilities corresponds to a top priority for UB citizens.

Cambodian Horticulture Project Advancing Income and Nutrition (CHAIN)

The Cambodian Horticulture Advancing Income and Nutrition (CHAIN) programme is implemented by SNV and aims to develop and strengthen horticulture value chains in close collaboration with public and private sector actors in four least-developed provinces in the northeast of Cambodia. The SDC mandated programme supports poor, smallholder women and men farmers to increase their productivity and income and to improve food security, nutrition and climate resilience.

The dual vocational education training (VET) system has long tradition in German-speaking countries, contributing to employment and income. Thus, its adaptation in development contexts is often complex and challenging. By fostering networks between donor agencies working on dual VET and tapping into the experience of the Swiss VET-community, the exchange of best practices and usage of synergies will improve VET projects in partner countries and lead to a better international positioning of the dual VET approaches.

Improving quality of pre-hospital and hospital emergency services

The project improves the emergency care system in Romania by strengthening the current continuous education for emergency care, develop the integrated emergency dispatcher training system and by improving the knowledge of the population regarding the emergency services in Romania.
