Colombia: HI: Comprehensive approach to mine action in the departments of Cacua and Nariño

SDC will support HI in strenghtning and complementing the institutional and community capaxity to manage min eaction with a differential approach (indigenous, peasant and afro-descendant) in the departments of Cauca and Nariño, under the Government's Rapid Response Strategy that is being implemented as part of the peace agreement signed with the FARC. The focus of the 2nd phase will be on a comprehensive approach (mine risk education, humanitarian demining, victim assistance and rehabilitation, and advocacy) that will bring a broader support to victims and vulnerable communities; and will link mine action dto developments programs as contribution towards peacebuilding in Colombia.

Food Security and livelihoods support for farmers and IDP's from Yei and Maridi States and refugees in Bidibidi, Uganda

Through this corss-border project, Caritas Belgium and its partners intend to meet the basic food needs of vulnerable residents trapped in the beleaguered city of Yei/Central Equatoria, to improve the food security and livelihoods of farmers in Maridi County/Western Equatoria and to (re-)build the livelihoods of newly arrived South Sudanese refugees and vulnerable Ugandan host communities in and around the Bidibidi refugee settlement.

Mercy Corps: Rapid responses to movements of populations through cash based programming

Eastern DRC has faced a crisis for over twenty years and humanitarian needs remain acute. A combination of persistent armed conflict, forced and prolonged displacements, epidemics poor governance and poor service delivery have fostered high vulnerability within the population. Providing multi-sectoral assistance will helpp address the diversity of needs in communities in crisis, especially those of displaced people. SDC's contribution to Mercy Corps (MC) is specifically earmarked to provide assistance through unconditional, multi-purpose cash transfers.

Intergovernmental Process on Strengthening Respect for International Humanitarian Law (IHL)

01.08.2017 - 31.07.2018

The 32nd International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent of December 2015 recognized the imperative need to improve compliance with IHL and mandated Switzerland, together with the ICRC, to facilitate an “intergovernmental process to find agreement on features and functions of a potential forum of States and to find ways to enhance the implementation of IHL using the potential of the International Conference and IHL regional forums”. As in the previous phase of the project (01.09.2016 to 31.07.2017), Switzerland, jointly with the ICRC, will continue to organize and facilitate negotiation meetings in Geneva, open to all States, with a view to strengthening the international system for reinforcing respect for IHL.

National Governance and Public Administration Reform (NGPAR): Governance for Inclusive Development Project (GIDP)

In a context of prevailing poor access to public services, the National Governance and Public Administration Reform Programme (NGPAR) has enhanced inclusive service delivery and local development via strengthening public administrations, increased dialogue, and collaboration between citizens and state for more effective service delivery since 2006. NGPAR Phase 4, the Governance for Inclusive Development Project will focus on support to the devolution process for inclusive and sustainable development in Lao PDR.

MEDAIR - Emergency Health Response for vulnerable populations in selected health areas of Eastern DRC

Eastern DRC has faced a chronic cirsis for over twenty years and humanitarian needs remain acute. A combination fo persistent armed conflict, forced and prolonged displacements, epidemics, poor governance and poor service delivery have fostered high vulnerability within the population. Through primary health care interventions and community engagement, Medair aims to contribute to the reduction fo morbidity and mortality of persons affected by acute and protracted conflict.

Regional Vulnerability Assessment and Analysis (RVAA)

The project supports the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and its Member States in reducing vulnerability of households to disaster risks by increasing their preparedness for response and recovery and in strengthening their resilience. This will be achieved through institutionalising and sustaining vulnerability assessments and analyses systems that enhance emergency and developmental responses at national and regional levels.

Partnership for Forestry and Fisheries (PaFF): Support to Forestry and Fisheries Communities in Cambodia

SDC contributes to the initiative Partnership for Forestry and Fisheries implemented by a consortium of four NGOs, led by WWF Cambodia. The programme supports rural communities to secure their access to forestry and fishery resources, to improve income and food security through enhanced production practices, and to advance public dialogue on sustainable natural resource management in four least-developed provinces in the northeast of Cambodia.

Regional and Local Economic Development in the East West Corridor (RLED-EWEC)

01.08.2017 - 31.10.2019

The “Regional Local economic Development – East West Corridor” Project (RLED-EWEC)” has been implemented since 2013 by the Mekong Institute, an intergovernmental organisation with the mandate to build human resources capacities in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). The proposed two year phasing out will consolidate and scale up results. 5’500 smallholder farmer households will increase income and the environment for cross-border trade will be improved.
