Programme d’appui à la valorisation des produits forestiers non ligneux, phase 2 (PFNL2)

Au Burkina Faso, les
produits forestiers non ligneux[1] (PFNL) constituent une importante source alimentaire pour
les populations des zones affectées par les chocs climatiques et déficitaires
sur le plan alimentaire. Les PFNL font partie de l’alimentation de plus de
43,4% des ménages ruraux et procurent de l’emploi et des revenus. Le programme contribue à l’accroissement de la sécurité
alimentaire, nutritionnelle et des revenus des ménages ruraux et périurbains[2]
par la valorisation et la gestion durable des PFNL.
[1] Les PFNL s’entendent
par « tout bien d’origine biologique
autre que le bois et la faune à l’exception des insectes, dérivé des forêts et
des arbres hors forêts, constitués de végétaux spontanés, domestiqués, et ceux
destinés au reboisement ». (Source FAO) [2] Le périurbain est
un espace rural au sens où l’essentiel des sols est attribué à des activités
agricoles; mais c’est aussi un espace urbain au sens où la majorité de la
population active qui y habite travaille dans une ville, en effectuant des
migrations alternantes. Le milieu périurbain connait une très forte compétition
entre usage agricole et non
agricole des ressources: terres, main-d'œuvre, etc. La production agricole est
orientée principalement pour le marché du centre urbain.

The project aims to make Mongolia’s sub-national local assemblies (khurals)[1] more responsive and accountable to citizens, ensuring youth participation and realising the rights of the poor and marginalised. A comprehensive capacity-development strategy will be implemented that addresses the legal and institutional environment, the organisational capacity of local councils and the competencies of locally elected politicians. Gender equality and pro-poor approaches are mainstreamed in the project’s design and in its results framework.

Educational facilities for the Internally Displaced and street children

The internally displaced youth living often as street children in the low-income neighbourhoods of the capital city Islamabad and are deprived from basic education and protection services. The Mashal school educates IDP children from all over the country with a majority from KP and FATA, offers them a protective space, advises / counsels them on cultural, social and legal issues and help them to register under the government system by that laying the basis for future livelihood possibilities.

They retain strong connections with their homeland, and many of them are interested in contributing to its development with skills, know-how and financial investment. Switzerland supports BiH (in both entities and Brčko district) in creating a favorable environment for leveraging diaspora’s human and financial capital (as investors, providers of know-how and networkers) for the development of the country, thus contributing to economic growth, employment and income.

Programme d’Appui à la Formation Professionnelle et à l’Apprentissage (PAFPA)

Au Burkina Faso, la majorité des jeunes travaille dans des activités à faible valeur ajoutée, du fait d’un système de formation professionnelle peu efficace et faiblement lié au secteur privé. Le PAFPA entend améliorer l’accès et la qualité de ce système en capitalisant sur les expériences de la DDC dans les secteurs agro-alimentaire et artisanal et en promouvant un partenariat public-privé inédit entre le Ministère de la formation professionnelle, la plus grande organisation patronale et une ONG spécialisée en ingénierie de formation.

TUR CONCERN Capacity Strengthening of local NGOs for Effective Refugee Response in Turkey

Civil Society (CS) in Turkey only recently has developed a humanitarian focus. INGOs, donors and the UN rely on a few natinal NGOs to compleent the governmental refugee respone, which is increasingly strained as the Sate is undergoing a severe crisis. Humanitarian CS initiatives have also emerged at local and provincial level, but there institutional and operational capacities are still weak. This project will stregthen the capacities of 10 local NGOs to conduct refugee assistance.

Township Democratic Local Governance (TDLG)

In Mon State, with a traditionally strong Swiss presence, the project promotes a participatory, inclusive and transparent process around development grants, in order to improve the delivery of basic services at Township and village levels. Together with the state’s authorities, with the aim of including the governance structures of the Ethnic Armed Groups, the living conditions and space for democracy for the local people in ten Townships should improve with tangible development results.

Palestinian Population, Housing, and Establishment Census 2017

SDC will support the realisation of the third Palestinian Population, Housing, and Establishment Census in 2017 through a targeted contribution to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS). This project is co-financed by the Palestinian Authority and by a range of donors which acknowledge thereby the need to conduct a national census on a regular basis (every ten years) to produce reliable development data and statistics that support the design and implementation of effective policies conducive to reaching the goals of Agenda 2030 (Sustainable Development Goals). Such data are even more important in fragile contexts, such as the oPt.

The role of UN-Water is to coordinate the UN system’s action on all water related issues, including sanitation. Therefore, UN-Water is key to bring a more effective, integrated and coordinated approach to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda with regards to water and sanitation. SDC’s support as core contribution is crucial to ensure that the political ambition of the 2030 Agenda for water has an efficient institutional setting.
