Fribourg Solidaire

Fribourg Solidaire, organisation faîtière qui compte 20 ONG membres, a fait de la formation et de l’information ses axes de travail privilégiés, afin de promouvoir des projets de qualité et un regard critique sur les enjeux globaux. Un pont qui relie spécialistes et bénévoles et qui met en communication le public du Canton de Fribourg avec les pays du Sud. Fribourg Solidaire est devenu un interlocuteur reconnu en matière de coopération internationale au développement pour les collectivités publiques locales, car garant de qualité et lieu d’échange et de débat.

Swisscontact (Kredit Ost)

Swisscontact veut élargir son rôle en tant que moteur de la promotion du secteur privé dans les pays en développement. A cette fin, Swisscontact repose son programme sur les axes d’intervention suivants : formation professionnelle et renforcement des capacités, promotion des petites et moyennes entreprises, facilitation de l’accès aux services financiers et promotion de l’utilisation efficace des ressources.

Contribution 2017-2019 to WHO Project “Attacks on Health Care”

To demonstrate and reinforce its engagement in promoting the protection of the medical mission, SDC’s Humanitarian Aid supports a project conceived and implemented by WHO, whose overall goal is to make sure that essential life-saving health services are provided to emergency-affected populations unhindered by any form of violence or obstruction. Based on the collected data, the project will launch advocacy policies and promote the issue through, among others, the exchange of best practices.

Rational and relevance of the intervention and summary of overall goal:

In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. SDC funding to WFP operations allows the World Food Programme (WFP) to respond proactively and to provide immediate food assistance in life-threatening situations.

Amidst funding shortfalls and consequent cuts of food ratios for refugees in Kenya, Switzerland contributes to the food assistance for refugees living in Dadaab and Kakuma camps.

WFP Additional Contribution 2017 to Scale Up Operations in South Sudan in Response to the Hunger Emergency

On 24 February 2017, SDC/HA pledged an additional allocation of CHF 15 million to support emergency relief operations to help populations facing starvation in parts of Africa (South Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria and the larger Lake Chad Region) and Yemen. This decision followed a call issued by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on 22 February 2017 urging for USD 4.4 billion aid to avert famine for 20 million people who risk starvation in these countries. Out of the CHF 15.0 million, CHF 7 million will be allocated to support WFP’s emergency operations in South Sudan, Nigeria and the larger Lake Chad region, and Yemen.
