- 31.12.2016
The Humanitarian Response Fund (HRF) managed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) provides flexible funding for life-saving interventions in Ethiopia. Due to consecutive failure of rainfall amplified by the El Nino phenomenon, the continued influx of refugees as well as sporadic disease outbreaks, Ethiopia is currently facing a serious humanitarian crisis. Switzerland's contribution to the HRF allows for a rapide, flexible, coordinated and needs-based humanitarian response.

Emergency assistance to Conflict-affected population in Eastern Ukraine
25.02.2016
- 31.12.2016
In early 2014, a deep political crisis in Ukraine and the secretive Russian military interference resulted in a major armed conflict in the East of the country, which led to massive displacement of civilian population and heavy destruction of infrastructures and private properties. A ceasefire formally in place since 15 February 2015 has allowed the Swiss Humanitarian Aid (SHA) to conduct three large humanitarian transports (health, water) benefitting the population in the Oblast of Donetsk (on both sides of the contact line) and the large city of Dnipropetrovsk.

OCHA: Inter Cluster and Field Coordination in Meta
15.02.2016
- 31.03.2017
The cluster approach ongoing in Colombia since 2006 requires important coordination services among a wider range of partners, supporting the HC to ensure a coherent response, and providing field-based cluster leads with the inter-agency tools. Inter cluster coordination represents the strategic axis to ensure an adequate level of interaction among clusters and local humanitarian/coordination teams. With 9 operating humanitarian local teams in the field, where OCHA acts as secretariat, field coordination is an essential function of OCHA to deliver standardised guidelines to HLT, ensure proper support to partners and guaranty an efficient coordination of the local humanitarian response.

11.02.2016
- 31.05.2025
In addition to the sustainable management of resources and good governance, water-related challenges open up a wide field for technological innovation, particularly in the application of nanotechnologies for water treatment, especially ones which are energy-efficient. The challenge for Swiss Bluetec Bridge is to put these cutting-edge 'Swiss' technologies at the service of the poor and ensure that they are sustainably managed. To do this the project must seek to bridge the gap between public support for start-ups and private investment.

A National Training System for Simulation in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care and other Specialities
08.02.2016
- 30.06.2019
Anaesthesia & Intensive Care in adult and paediatric care is characterized by a high complexity of manoeuvres and specific procedures, as well as very complex clinical scenarios. There is an obvious need for stronger skills- based training as required by the European training models. In order to develop and maintain high training standards, Romania has recently introduced simulation methodology into continuous medical education (CME) at University level. However, the training capacity in in Romania remains limited: from the leading five universities, only two (Cluj, Tg-Mures) have simulation centres which are to some degree functional.
