Accelerate Registration of Medical Products

Efforts in research and development of medical products for diseases disproportionately affecting people in low and lower middle-income countries have been multiplied. Yet, after successful development of a medical product 4-7 years elapse before it is registered in these countries. Through the World Health Organisation and the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products, SDC aims to strengthen capacities of African medicines regulatory authorities and increase the efficiency of regional and global medicines regulatory procedures.

UNOCHA – Humanitarian Pooled Fund (HPF) for the oPt 2016-2017

SDC financial contribution to the Humanitarian pooled Fund (HPF) managed by UNOCHA in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) will enable humanitarian actors to quickly respond to urgent humanitarian needs, mainly in Gaza Strip as well as in the West Bank, especially in Area C and East Jerusalem. This intervention is in line with SDC Cooperation Strategy 2015-2018 for the oPt that seeks to contribute to the promotion of and respect for international law, in particular provide assistance to the population in Gaza, Area C, the Seam Zone and East Jerusalem that enhances protection, prevents or mitigates the impact of violations or natural disasters, and enhances resilience of Palestinians.

*Access Agriculture: Videos for Farmers*

Access Agriculture is a global web platform aiming at providing easy access to agricultural learning and training videos of quality. Over 250 quality training videos will be available and translated into more than 60 local languages. These videos are targeted at small-scale farmers in developing countries as well as research staff, service providers, private and public extension services, farmer organisations and rural tv stations. They enable learning from farmer to farmer to support sustainable agriculture.

Seeds and Access to Markets Project (SAMP) Phase 3

The project contributes to increased food and nutrition security of smallholder farmers by improving availability of and access to adequate quantities of quality seeds and planting material of suitable and diversified crop varieties. This enables smallholder farmers to produce enough food to sustain themselves, their communities, and earn higher incomes. The project strengthens national and local farmer-led institutions, supports community seed and commodity production and strengthens seed and commodity distribution networks.

Afghanistan Subnational Governance Programme (ASGP)

The overall aim is that Afghan women and men, boys and girls access more accountable, transparent and inclusive subnational services. The project strengthens Afghanistan’s provincial and municipal institutions to improve the quality of local governance. Subnational institutions will plan and report in a more consultative and accountable manner. Civil society stakeholders engage more effectively with local institutions and processes.

Contribution to the Roma Education Fund (REF)

REF is the lead organization for Roma education. SDC is supporting REF from its inception, contributing in a relevant way to the Roma decade. REF recently defined a strategy (2015-20) and is strengthening its results orientation. By continuing the partnership with REF, with a focus on pro-inclusion policy dialogue, SDC ensures coherence and consistence of its position in the Roma inclusion agenda. REF's focus on children from early childhood is crucial for the social inclusion of the next generation of Roma.

Gestion intégrée des bassins versants au Moyen Atlas

L’érosion des sols au Maroc, sévère dans les montagnes de l’Atlas, est à la fois cause et indicateur des défis auxquels font face les populations vulnérables de la région: désastres naturels et précarité. L’intervention propose une approche innovante de gestion intégrée des bassins versants qui augmentera durablement la résilience des populations locales, tout en améliorant leurs conditions de vie. L’engagement fort du Maroc pour sa réplication future à l’échelle nationale permet un effet multiplicateur considérable.

Ristrutturazione di edifici scolastici nel Nord del Libano

Dopo aver terminato la ristrutturazione delle prime 28 scuole nel Nord del Libano, la DSC comincia ora i lavori in altri 24 edifici scolastici della stessa regione. I cantieri, portati avanti in collaborazione con le autorità libanesi, permettono di far fronte all’arrivo in massa di figli di profughi siriani.

Pakistan: HUJRA, Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction in IDPs Return Areas of FATA

The population of Bajour & Mohmand Agency of FATA is severely affected by conflicts and flash floods. In order to assist the returning IDPs in their reintegration and to ensure food security of the entire population, the project will provide income opportunities through cash for work activities and at the same time protect the population in the respective agencies and their livelihoods against future hydro-metrological disasters. The project builds on former experience in the Swat Valley.

Strong and Inclusive Parliamentary Democracy

The parliamentary democracy in Kyrgyzstan still needs to be strengthened. The project will institutionalise systems allowing the Parliament to held the government accountable for its performance in public service delivery. An increased citizens' participation in the development of national policies will help to identify adequate solutions to people's need and priorities. In this process, citizens will have an oversight on the work and performance of the Parliament and its members.

La crise au nord du Mali a fragilisé la cohésion sociale et aggravé ainsi les tensions inter et intracommunautaires préexistantes. Les Möcanismes traditionnels de résolution des conflits peinent à atténuer ces tensions. La signature de l'Accord de Paix a donné un espoir de retour d'une paix durable. Ce projet contribuera, à travers une approche communautraire inclusive, impliquant les autorités locales (Collectivités, autorités traditionnelles et administratives), à renforcer la cohésion social et la résilience des populations vulnérables de la région de Mopti.
