Youth Employment Generation-Gaza

The project will support the Palestinian national and local authorities in responding to the needs of the vulnerable and war-affected youth and disabled in the Gaza Strip through the provision of temporary employment within the framework of emergency job creation. The project will be implemented through UNDP in collaboration with the Ministries of Labour, Social Affairs and the targeted local municipalities. The project is a direct contribution to the early recovery efforts in the Gaza strip and is in line with the Swiss Cooperation Strategy for the oPt 2015 – 2018.

La crescita economica e occupazionale in Albania è ostacolata dalla mancanza di personale con competenze tecniche della dovuta qualità. Per far fronte a questa problematica, il Governo albanese intende promuovere la formazione professionale e adattarla alle esigenze del mercato del lavoro. Il progetto «Skills for Jobs» sostiene tale proposito.

One of the major difficulties to improve health and well-being of the populations in the Mekong sub-region comes from the shortage of well-trained health sector’s human resources to contribute to the reduction of health inequalities amongst subgroups of the population (incl. gender, ethnic groups). The project aims at maintaining the IFMT training activities while preparing the transformation into a sub-regional Centre of Excellence for the health and well-being of populations living in tropical zones.

Regional Rapid Response Teams for a strengthened decentralized Rescue System in Armenia (phase II)

Since 2013, SDC has been making important contributions to the build-up of decentralized rescue teams in Armenia to be deployed in case of earthquakes and other natural or man-made disasters. Taking into account the country's high risk profile, a further upscale of the existing capacities to the level of "medium rescue" according to the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) is deemed necessary in order to better reach out to trapped victims. The training and equipment of two additional regional teams is a core piece of the intervention

ACTED: Immediate and multi sector assistance to highly vulnerable conflict-affected households in Walikale Territory, North Kivu, DRC

This emergency intervention consists of two components, (i) Nonfood items direct distribution in emergency situation and (ii) support for agricultural production in areas of return. The intervention will be highly mobile and flexible in order to respond quickly to the most urgent needs. In addition, given the security and humanitarian context in Walikale Territory, marked by both displacement and return movement, the project will also participate in supporting agricultural production in order to strengthen the resilience of communities.

Sino-Swiss Low Carbon Cities Project (SSLCC)

The project will contribute to the efforts made by Chinese Metropolitan Areas to reduce the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) intensity of their development through innovation and good practices from Switzerland. GHG sets in motion potentially irreversible effects including the rise of sea levels, drought or ice melting that put particular pressure on poor segments of societies worldwide. Nowadays, about 75% of GHG are emitted in urban housing, living and income generating activities. China is accountable for about 25% of the global GHG emissions.

La décentralisation est un levier important pour consolider la paix et favoriser le développement. En appuyant le Burundi dans ce secteur, la DDC veut contribuer à la promotion d’une interaction à tous les niveaux fondée sur : la participation citoyenne et la redevabilité sociale, des réformes favorables à l’autonomie opérationnelle et financière des communes et la fourniture des services de proximité tenant compte des besoins des groupes marginalisés.

The fourth Phase of the Skills Development Project (SDP) in Uzbekistan contributes to the improvement and further development of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system by introducing and strengthening the systemic approach to cooperation among stakeholders in the water sector within the cycle “Demand-Training-Job Placement”. The systemic approach to be followed in this Phase of SDP is going to serve as a blueprint for other sectors of the economy and be replicated accordingly.

Community-Led Coastal Management in the Gulf of Mottama

In the rapid transition to a market economy and more democratic systems, control over Myanmar’s land, forest and fisheries is contested by citizens, government and the commercial private sector. In the productive and globally significant Gulf of Mottama, this program supports the development of local institutions for sustainable resource management with an emphasis on equitable access to fisheries and improved livelihoods of the rural poor.

Strengthening Democratic Practices in the Election Processes in Kyrgyzstan

Elections are one of the critical elements of the democratization agenda in Kyrgyzstan. The proposed project will support democratic practices in the upcoming elections 2015-2017 (parliamentarian, municipal and presidential elections) as elections represent a major means to increase citizens’ participation in political life and of voicing their concerns regarding the achievement of the objectives of poverty alleviation and human development.

Ricostruire le amministrazioni e promuovere il dialogo e la fiducia in Ucraina

La DSC sostiene un progetto delle Nazioni Unite nei distretti amministrativi Luhansk e Donetsk colpiti dal conflitto che sono sotto il controllo del Governo statale. L’obiettivo è ricostruire le amministrazioni locali e sostenere il dialogo tra i vari attori per rafforzare la coesione sociale. Si tratta della prima grande iniziativa internazionale per la ricostruzione del Donbas nell’Ucraina orientale.

Una vita senza violenza, dall’utopia alla pratica

Sulla base di una legge contro le violenze perpetrate nei confronti delle donne adottata di recente in Bolivia, la DSC vuole contribuire a un’assistenza più sistematica e adeguata delle donne vittime di aggressioni. Anche le autorità locali e nazionali, insieme alla popolazione, sono coinvolte nello sforzo di prevenire le aggressioni commesse contro le donne. I comportamenti sono troppo spesso tinti di un maschilismo che legittima la violenza.
