Contribution to Swiss DRR NGO Platform, Beitrag 2015-2016

The Swiss NGO DRR Platform is a network of NGO professionals dedicated to increase the resilience of women and men, communities and governments in all aspects of DRR and ACC. The Platform focuses on three core tasks (capacity building, technical advice and advocacy). The member NGOs have a common vision and agreed standards, a common ground to develop and implement DRR initiatives and entity to work nationally and internationally.

AfDB - SDC Partnership on enhancing the Bank’s fragility and conflict sensitivity

Based on its Ten-year Strategy, the Bank will strengthen its engagement in fragile and conflict affected countries/situations which is also a priority in Switzerland’s development bill 2013-16. This partnership will assist the Bank in building the necessary capacities and instruments to translate fragility concepts and approaches into more effective operations on the ground. Other outcomes will be a new diagnostic tool “Country Resilience and Fragility Assessment (CRFA)” and strengthened capacities in the Bank and in 30 African countries.

SDC contribution to OHCHR Protection cluster leadership and coordination will positively impact their effective leadership of the largest cluster in the oPt, ensuring synergies among sub-groups, coordination and provision of guidance on international humanitarian and human rights law, coordination of advocacy on protection issues, coordination of holistic responses to protection concerns, and support for protection mainstreaming in the humanitarian interventions in the oPt. This intervention is in line with SDC Cooperation Strategy 2015-2018 for the oPt.

Reducing the Burden of Non-Communicable Diseases in Moldova

In Moldova, a quarter of the population dies of a Non-Communicable Disease (NCD), such as cardio-vascular disease, before reaching the age of 70. The quality of life of people affected by NCDs is very low, as the health system lacks the capacities to tackle NCDs effectively. The project strengthens primary healthcare service providers’ capacities to better organize care together with social services. Better health will be promoted through engaging communities and local authorities in common actions for NCD prevention and promotion of healthy behaviors.

WFP - Food Aid Swiss Dairy Products (Cuba)

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.

Regional Arts and Culture Programme (RACP)

The regional arts and culture programme contributes to strengthening the capacity of art organisations to exchange and share expertise, resources, and artistic contents across the countries of the region. It further supports artists to reach out to new audiences with their art products. It explores through established organisations how artistic expressions that are rooted in the creative work can bring fresh perspectives and contribute to development endeavours.

LEB, TdH, Protection of the Most Vulnerable Children Affected by the Syria crisis in South Lebanon

Since 2011 almost 1.2 million Syrians crossed into Lebanon seeking safety and shelter. Especially children struggle with many challenges during displacement including family separation, exposure to physical and/or psychological violence, abuse, child labour and exploitation, early marriage, and recruitment by armed groups. Through this project, Terre des hommes builds and expands on its regular interventions in South Lebanon by including Syrian refugee children and strengthening capacities of local child protection actors.
