Rapid Response: Beitrag HUG - Les Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève 2024-2025

Die Fachstelle Rapid Response stellt die Einsatzbereitschaft von SET (Soforteinsatzteam) und RK (Rettungskette) sicher. Medizinisches Fachpersonal ist integraler Bestandteil der Einsatzteams. Das kurzfristige Rekrutieren (innert Std.) von medizinischem Fachpersonal ist herausfordernd und ohne solide Vorbereitung unmöglich. Aus diesem Grund haben die HH/SKH und HUG eine Zusammenarbeit in diesem Bereich vereinbart.


Support to UNDAC operations and trainings

UNDAC (United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination) is a vital element of OCHA. It serves as the international response system for sudden-onset emergencies and is designed to help the United Nations and governments of disaster affected countries during the first phase of an emergency. H-Operations will assume responsibility for the Swiss contribution to UNDAC per 2024 as it is an intervention instrument requiring training and deployment of Swiss UNDAC members. 


Georgia: Contribution to CoE Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027, Democracy Starts in Schools

Good governance is a prerequisite for sustainable development and peaceful societies. By tapping into the Council of Europe’s expertise in human rights, rule of law and democracy, Switzerland will continue to contribute to Georgia's democratic culture. Beyond the support to the CoE’s core programme, youth empowerment, with focus on their active participation in decision-making processes for responsible citizenship, is the focus of the Swiss supported intervention.


Sustainable Consumption and Production in Lao PDR

While Lao PDR transitions to a more urban economy, it struggles with insufficient waste management. Switzerland and the European Union (EU) in support of the government are joining hands to promote sustainable consumption and production practices in urban areas by strengthening the capacities, outreach and impact of waste-related CSOs.


Contribution to the humanitarian Access Support Unit (ASU) in the occupied Palestinian territory

Coordinated access is key for the humanitarian response to the Gaza strip and the West Bank. Switzerland supports the work of the Access Support Unit (ASU) – the UN body that facilities humanitarian access for people and goods in dialogue with relevant authorities in a critical moment. The Swiss contribution is part of the international burden sharing. It supports the timely and safe delivery of humanitarian and development assistance and is to direct benefit of Switzerland’s activities in the oPt.

FSD Mine and UXO clearance in Kharkiv and Kherson Oblasts (MUCKKO)

This project of FSD (Fondation suisse de déminage) deploys the full range of mine action activities, which enables to identify the level of risks in suspected areas, clear unexploded ordnance (UXOs) and mines, and minimize the risks for the population thanks to targeted awareness sessions. It builds on the first FDFA-supported intervention in Kharkiv oblast and extends to the recently liberated Kherson oblast, equally affected by weapon contamination.


Ukraine ICRC contribution 2024 & 2025

Switzerland's adherence to humanitarian principles and its support for ICRC operations play a pivotal role in providing immediate assistance and protection to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. By offering predictable and flexible funding, Switzerland enables ICRC to effectively respond to the ever-changing humanitarian needs in Ukraine. This collaboration addresses the urgent challenges and demonstrates Switzerland's unwavering commitment to promoting peace and stability in Ukraine.


Core Contribution to the International Secretariat for Water (ISW)

A sustainable and equitable water governance and a secured access to safely managed drinking water, sanitation and hygiene are at the base of Switzerland’s efforts for having a Sustainable Development Goal 6 on water. The International Secretariat for Water is a Canada based non-governmental organisation promoting an active civil society by focussing on youth, women and indigenous people. It acts as a facilitator for political processes in support of concrete water projects.


Social Water Entrepreneurship - Catalyzing Impact with Innovative Finance

Innovative collaboration with the private sector is needed to achieve SDG 6. This program – implemented by Aqua for All and co-financed by the Dutch government - enhances access to private capital for high impact small and medium sized enterprises (SME) in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene, facilitating sustainable water and sanitation services in Least Developed and Lower-Middle Income Countries through two key innovative finance instruments: Impact-Linked Financing to SMEs and Impact Finance first loss investments in structured funds investing in water SMEs.


Global Governance on Food Security and Nutrition

01.01.2024 - 31.12.2027

The fight against hunger and malnutrition requires coordinated policy guidance based on scientific evidence and informed by voices from the ground. The Committee on World Food Security is the platform for all stakeholders to work together to provide such guidance. This contribution gives Switzerland additional leverage in shaping the policy environment at global level and allows Swiss development cooperation approaches to be incorporated into global policy discussions.


OCHA Interagency Protection / Gender / PSEA Project 2024-2025

01.01.2024 - 31.12.2025

Switzerland provides a contribution to the inter-agency Protection Standby Capacity (ProCap), the Gender Standby Capacity (GenCap) and the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Standby Capacity (PSEACap). They deploy Senior Protection Advisers to humanitarian field operations, as well as at the global and regional levels. Switzerland will strengthen the capacity of the humanitarian system to deliver better protection, gender equality and PSEA by providing strategic and technical advice to the Humanitarian Country Teams (HCTs) around the world.

WFP Country Strategic Plan 2024 Malawi - Allocation of SDC Funding to El Nino Response

Against historic levels of food insecurity due to conflicts, climate change and COVID-19, Switzerland annually supports about 40 SDC priority countries operations of the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide humanitarian and development assistance. It funds WFP Country Strategy Plans, incorporating all programmes or projects, based on affected population needs and potential synergies with other local partners, especially national governments and civil society.
