Strengthening the National HIV Response

The Newlands Clinic (NC) is a national Centre of Excellence for the comprehensive care of HIV patients with complex and advanced diseases. Through its training centre and research capacities it informs and strengthens Zimbabwe’s national HIV response. Managed by the Swiss Ruedi Lüthy Foundation, Switzerland’s support to the Newlands Clinic contributes to Switzerland’s visibility and excellent reputation in the country.

The NRC intervention seeks to provide assistance in the sectors of Protection, Education, Food Security and Livelihoods, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, to 6,483 direct beneficiaries, including children, adolescents, and their families in communities and schools of the Orinoco Mining Arc; a hotspot area for illegal mining and high levels of violence in Bolivar state, near the border between Venezuela and Brazil, a priority area for the SDC Guidance Note for Venezuela 2022-2024.

Cyclone Mocha Relief 2023

The present credit proposal funds UNHCR, IOM, HEKS and Helvetas in line with the JRP and Flash Appeal to ‘build back better’ by rebuilding, repairing and reconstructing essential camp infrastructure (shelter) to assist the population who have suffered through the destruction of the Cyclone Mocha in Rohingya refugee camps and Host community in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The project is relevant for Switzerland as it supports in saving lives and alleviate sufferings through the reduction of vulnerability of the Rohingya refugees and promote humanitarian principles.

INSO program in DR Congo (RDC)

Étant donné la complexité et la volatilité du contexte, les ONG qui mettent en oeuvre des programmes à l’est de la RDC ont besoin de services d'information et de coordination sécuritaire, pour une meilleure compréhension de leur environnement opérationnel, une réduction des risques sécuritaires et la réalisation de leur mandat. INSO leurs fournit ces services sous forme de briefings périodiques, de conseils individuels et de formations permettant une meilleure mise en oeuvre des programmes notamment ceux de la Suisse.

Sanitation Solutions for underserved Communities in Jordan

Switzerland will build a decentralised wastewater treatment plant in Azraq. Proven Swiss know-how in wastewater management will be applied to increase the efficiency of the treatment plant and to demonstrate how wastewater can be converted into physical and financial resources. The chosen approach for reducing freshwater consumption in agriculture by replacing it with safely treated waste water, in one of the most water-scarce countries, will be promoted based on the implementation of this flagship project.
Moldova – Making the Most of Migration

With one third of Moldova’s population living abroad, the current country`s leadership is firmly committed to harness the development potential of migration. Previous Swiss-supported interventions resulted in a unique mobilization of Moldovan migrants committed to contribute to the development of their home communities. Switzerland will further support Moldova to ensure the sustainability of diaspora engagement models and to improve evidence-based governance through reliable demographic statistics, including migration trends.

Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) – Emergency Response Plan Sudan Armed Conflict

Millions of people in Sudan are facing critical shortages of food, water, sanitation, shelter, non-food items, as well as access to basic education, psychosocial support and protection since the outbreak of fighting between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on 15 April 2023. Based on its sectoral and technical areas of expertise, NRC therefore developed a multi-sectoral emergency response plan incl. multi-purpose cash, emergency shelter/ NFI, WASH, education assistance, and protection interventions.
Access to Green Financing for Enterprises

Building on Switzerland’s experience with innovative access to finance avenues, this programme facilitates mobilising green finance for small and medium sized enterprises in Bangladesh. Suite à une situation humanitaire en dégradation à cause des conflits armés en RDC, ce projet contribue à l'amélioration des conditions de vie des populations affectées à travers la couverture de leurs besoins vitaux par le biais d’une assistance « one-shot » en cash dans le cadre d’un Mécanisme de Réponse Rapide (RRM) au Sud-Kivu.
