Climate change, Covid-19, conflicts are reversing progress on malnutrition, underlining the growing urgency to transform food systems to tackle human development and planetary needs. Switzerland supports GAIN’s activities with governments, businesses, civil society and partners to ensure consistent access to affordable, safe, nutritious and sustainable food for healthier diets, in particular for the most vulnerable, through more inclusive policies and regulations, effective markets and innovative financing.
IDEA - Contribution to the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance is the only inter governmental organization specialized in democracy support and thus key for realizing Switzerland’s foreign policy objective of promoting democracy. IDEA’s diverse constituency of countries from the Global South & North, its practice oriented expertise and its convening of policy dialogues at all levels, offers Switzerland an ideal dialogue platform and implementing partner on democratic governance.

Core Voluntary Contribution to the World Health Organisation (WHO)

WHO is the leading and coordinating agency on health within the United Nations system. Switzerland supports its mandate to ensure the highest attainable level of health and weII-being for all (SDG3). WHO’s normative function is its key strategic comparative advantage in global health governance. Its rights-based approach to health is also critical for advancing health equity. The policy dialogue jointly carried out with WHO supports leveraging health activities in Swiss cooperation priority countries.

South Sudan and Chad World Food Programme (WFP) - Additional Contribution 2023 (NHF)

Against historic levels of food security due to conflicts, climate change and COVID-19, Switzerland supports annually in 28 SDC priority countries operations of the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide humanitarian and development assistance. It funds indistinctively Country Strategic Plans, incorporating all WFP programmes or projects, based on affected population needs and potential synergies with other local partners, especially national governments and civil society.

Contribution to the ICRC and IFRC National Society Investment Alliance (NSIA)

In order to realize the Movement’s full potential, the ICRC and the IFRC have committed to work together to increase the investment in Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies (NS). A joint fund, the National Society Investment Alliance (NSIA), has been launched to invest in capacity-strengthening and organizational development. It provides flexible, multi-year funding to support the development of NS to become stronger local humanitarian actors for their communities.

The ICRC is shifting priorities in Yemen towards people whose needs are most acute and enabling households to gain some level of self-sufficiency. Tchad UNICEF Contribution Sudan crisis 2023

The proposed contribution aims at responding to the mounting needs by supporting two health centres in Wadi Fira and Sila provinces and reinforcing quality care for children under five suffering from severe acute malnutrition in the targeted health districts. UNICEF provides access to basic services to all the affected communities – refugee and host - which will contribute to strengthening social cohesion and alleviate frustrations between host and refugee/returnee communities.
Institutional Strengthening Action Program of IGAD – ISAP IV

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is the sub-regional organization in the Horn of Africa. In line with Switzerland’s decision to increase its engagement with IGAD, the proposed contribution aims at reinforcing IGAD’s corporate performance, operational efficiency and building a coherent and collaborative engagement between IGAD and stakeholders for increased transparency and accountability. Hence contributing to greater stability and policy coherence in the Horn of Africa.
SYNAD - Programme d’Appui au Système National de Décentralisation

Au Burkina Faso, les institutions nationales sont encore insuffisamment capables d’assurer leurs tâches de coordination, de financement et d’appui technique à la décentralisation. La Suisse soutient les institutions chargées de mettre en œuvre cette réforme, afin d’accroître l’accès aux services de base, de réduire la pauvreté et de prévenir l’extrémisme violent. Elle reste engagée en combinant ses instruments de coopération et montre son soutien dans un contexte de crises sécuritaire et humanitaire.

Exiting partnership with PNGO: Strengthening Advocacy, Policy and Communications Capacity on nexus

Switzerland aims to exit its partnership with the network of Palestinian NGOs (PNGO) while ensuring consolidation of PNGO’s leading role in service delivery applying nexus approach to strength coherence between humanitarian, development efforts while preserving the viability of the 2-states solution, to effectively reduce people’s needs, risks and vulnerabilities while supporting prevention efforts. The contribution continues to enhance the prospects for Palestinians to live in dignity, prosperity and peace. This support is in line with the Swiss Cooperation Programme Near East 2021 - 2024 by promoting protection of the Palestinian population by all duty-bearers.
