Chaque année 500’000 jeunes nigériens arrivent sur le marché du travail comme main d’oeuvre non qualifiée dont les compétences ne répondent pas à la demande de l’économie locale. La Suisse soutient le Niger dans le développement d’offres de formation professionnelle de qualité en faveur de ce public cible. Le projet GWANI vise l’intégration du secteur privé dans l’orientation et le développement d’un système de formation professionnel plus performant, inclusif, et résilient.
Local Governance for People and Nature

The contribution to this joint UN programme will improve key services and policies in 99 eligible local governments. By supporting them to enhance good governance in managing their affairs with a special emphasis on social inclusion and environmental protection, the program will result in more equitable, open and efficient local administrations, improved local service provision and citizens’ quality of life. By pooling the efforts of different UN agencies, Switzerland contributes to the implementation of the UN system reform.
Strengthening Municipal Resilience to Corruption

This intervention aims to reduce the space for corruption on municipal level through support to mayors, municipal councils and administration in municipalities willing to engage in anticorruption efforts. The project will help state institutions to create or improve and implement mechanisms, policies and legislation to address high-corruption risks priority areas e.g. procurement, urban planning, licensing. It will target also the CSOs (citizens) and the media to raise their awareness and capacities to recognize corruption and know their rights.

Ce programme vise l’aménagement des vallées par les seuils d’épandage et l'utilisation durable des surfaces réhabilitées par les populations (350'000 personnes) de quatre provinces au centre-est du Tchad. Cette approche est promue et mise à l’échelle avec l’appui des organisations publiques et privées. Les femmes et les jeunes ont accès à la terre et sont appuyés dans la transformation agroalimentaire et l’accès au marché pour améliorer la sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle, la santé et les revenus tout en renforçant la résilience de la population.

Advancing climate-smart conservation agriculture across Southern Tajikistan (ACCA)

The project introduces climate smart irrigation as well as pomi- and horticulture techniques in vulnerable areas of the Southern part of the country. It will provide access to know-how and technologies to increase land productivity through adapted, climate smart vegetable cultivation, integrated pest management and efficient water management. Thus, the project contributes to improve food security and income opportunities for local agricultural smallholders.

The agri-food sector remains key to build a resilient economy and safeguard Palestinians’ access to land and natural resources. Switzerland contributes to this multi-donor program with the aim to improve income and productivity in the agricultural sector. This is done through investment support for small and middle sized Palestinian agri-businesses and through upgrading of 3 regional wholesale markets. This 2. Phase will put emphasis on climate-smart innovation, enhance sector policy dialogue and promote women-led businesses.
Appui a la scolarisation des filles défavorisées en milieu rural à travers l'internat local

De nombreuses filles en milieu rural sont mariées très tôt, faute d'alternative, et abandonnent donc leur scolarité à un stade précoce. Ce projet vise à améliorer la réussite scolaire pour les filles des ménages ruraux les plus pauvres, en leur fournissant un cadre protecteur et une éducation de qualité leur permettant d'être un modèle dans la société. C'est pourquoi que la Suisse va cofinancer deux internats pour 120 filles pendant 4 ans dans la région de Zinder qui est la plus peuplée et la plus rurale du Niger.

Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund Moldova

The program strengthens the financial capacities of the Republic of Moldova to reduce poverty and mitigate energy vulnerability that is caused by high inflation, staggering energy prices and uncertain supply of energy resources. Through compensating energy bills at household level, Switzerland makes a concrete contribution to poverty reduction, which is aligned to its international cooperation priorities and the priorities of the Government of Moldova.
National Water Resources Management Tajikistan (NWRM)

The last phase of the mandated Tajik National Water Resources Management Project-III of Syr Darya river basin will focus on sustainability and aims at improving rural livelihoods through an efficient and integrated management of water resources. The project will lead to climate resilient use, protection and development of basin water resources, improved irrigation efficiency, decreased risks of water-related disasters and allows smallholder farmers to increase incomes from agricultural production.

Effective Pasture Management and Risk Reduction

The proposal will develop an evidence-based roadmap for sustainable pasture ecosystems management, addressing livestock issues from local to market levels. It will support the development of a future project benefitting small holders and communities through higher pasture productivity and decreased vulnerability to natural hazards. Smart & Precise Prognostic Hydrology for Innovative Risk Management and Resource Use Efficiency in Central Asia (SAPPHIRE Central Asia)

The main goal of the project is to improve hydro-meteorological services provision to key stakeholders in Central Asia. This will be achieved through targeted capacity building of National Hydro-Meteorological Services agencies to valorize gauging station data by integrating a digital assistant solution to improve forecast accuracy. This is instrumental for disaster warning and decision-making across water-dependent sectors of the Central Asian economies.

Building Knowledge and Awareness on sustainable Sanitation Solutions

The project aims to improve public health by enhancing population’s access to safe sanitation services. The project will document and disseminate knowledge on innovative decentralized sanitation systems among concerned stakeholders for adequate integration of alternative sanitation models in state strategies, programmes and plans. The intervention will support Tajikistan in the implementation of the Water Sector Reform.
